One woman crime wave evicted

Thursday February 25, 2010

A woman who assaulted, swore and spat at her neighbours has been evicted from her Shepherds Bush home.

Residents of Champlain House, Australia Road lived in fear of one-woman crime wave Alison Wheeler. Her council property was a haven for drug dealers and users, she kept neighbours awake with late night partying and was notorious for shoplifting, carrying knives, being drunk and disorderly and high on drugs.

The 43 year-old had been a tenant since 1995 and was a menace ever since. Law-abiding neighbours claimed that the only peace they had was when Wheeler was in prison. They also stated that they had seen blood in the communal areas after Wheeler had been involved in fights.

Police attended her property on numerous occasions over the years to find signs of serious disturbance such as Alison and one of her visitors having blood on them but neither party wanted to state what had actually occurred. On their most recent visit, police from the Wormholt and White City Safer Neighbourhood Team found crack pipes.

Wheeler was slammed with an interim Anti Social Behaviour Injunction in May 2009  but failed to change her ways and was jailed for continuously breaking the injunction.

She was evicted permanently from her home on February 22, 2010 and has also been banned from entering certain areas of Shepherds Bush including Hammersmith Park until August 2014.

Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for crime and street scene, said: “Good riddance to Alison Wheeler – the original neighbour from hell. I am delighted that residents of Champlain House will at last be able to live in peace. Her behaviour was appalling and she thoroughly deserves her comeuppance. The council has a zero tolerance policy towards anti-social conduct and we will continue to work with the police and H&F Homes and come down hard on those who show little or no respect for the law.”

Sergeant Jason Carrigan from Wormholt and White City Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: "69 Champlain House and its occupant Alison Wheeler have caused untold anti-social behaviour and annoyance to the residents of the White City Estate.  We have worked tirelessly with Hammersmith & Fulham Homes to solve the problem and this unfortunately lead to Ms Wheeler's eventual eviction.

The key message is that we offered Ms Wheeler numerous opportunities to engage with us and change her ways but she chose to continue to cause distress and annoyance to her neighbours with her re-offending.  When an individual ignores all offers of assistance both the Metropolitan Police and Hammersmith & Fulham Homes will use the full power of the law to ensure that local residents can enjoy their community in peace.  The courts have also shown that they will support us to this end".

Wheeler is also not allowed to cause alarm, harassment or distress to anyone in the borough. If she breaches the injunction she can be arrested by the police.
