Friday February 26, 2010
There is some tree-mendous news for Brackenbury residents with Goldhawk Road set to be graced with 20 new trees.
The Thames Community Foundation has awarded the Brackenbury Residents Association (BRA) a £5,000 grant to plant the trees along the southern side of the Goldhawk Road.
Rosemary Pettit of the BRA, said: “We are delighted to have received this money to plant trees on the barren and treeless desert of Goldhawk Road. We look forward to the council planting the new trees.”
Cllr Nick Botterill, deputy leader and cabinet member for environment, said: “There is no doubt that planting new trees improves the local environment and helps to make communities better places to live. Hammersmith & Fulham is home to so many parks, open spaces and areas of greenery and these new trees will only add to the beauty of the borough.”
The new trees are likely to be a mixture of Plane and Alder trees.
