Library Family Fun Day

A special family fun day will be held on Saturday September 19 to celebrate the opening of the brand new Shepherds Bush Library.
The new £2m library, situated in the Westfield Shopping Centre, opened on September 1 and has already received numerous accolades.
The fun day will take place at the library from 11am to 4pm and will feature fun and games for all of the family.
Families and children will be able to join in with entertainment from the ‘Music House for Children’, learn about dragon care and watch Punch and Judy. In addition, there will also be free facepainting, craft workshops and walkabout entertainment. There will also be the opportunity to learn more about what the new library can offer you and try out the gaming or music mixing software that make this more than a library!
Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services, said: “I hope that as many people as possible attend the fun day on September 19. It promises to be a fantastic event. The new library is one of the most innovative of its kind in the country, providing cutting-edge services to an area with one of the highest footfalls in the capital. The building will be a real surprise for people who don’t usually visit our libraries. Make sure that you pop in next time you are doing your shopping at Westfield. I am sure you will be impressed with what you see.”
The state-of-the-art two-floor library houses over 10,000 brand new fiction and non fiction books, with over 1000 new DVDs , 600 CDs and 25 computers for public use.
The new Shepherds Bush Library will also feature:
- 'Work Zone' employment facility
- More study space with Wi Fi connection and more public access PCs
- Friendly, floorwalking staff to help customers find what they need
- New teenage area with computer games, music mixing software and chill-out space
- Self service for borrowing and returning books
- Lots of new books, CDs and DVDs to browse and borrow
- Dedicated spaces for quiet reading and for children's activities
- Meeting and exhibition spaces
