Leaseholder conference
Monday January 16, 2012
Homeowners living in council properties will have the chance to have their say at the annual Hammersmith & Fulham (H&F) Council Leaseholder Conference.
The event, to be held at Hammersmith Town Hall on Saturday, January 28, will be the first opportunity for leaseholders to let the council know how it is performing since housing management was brought in-house last year.
The event, which runs from 9.30 am to 12.45pm include a series of presentations covering the council’s vision for improving services, ensuring value for money and involving residents in decision making. There will also be an update on the various regeneration schemes taking place in the borough and information on how leaseholders can become freeholders through the Council’s ‘Right to Freehold’ scheme. Guests will have an opportunity to share their views in a question and answer session.
There will also be an opportunity for people to raise any individual questions at a drop-in session from 9.30am to 11.45am, in the Courtyard Room at the Town Hall.
Councillor Andrew Johnson, cabinet member for housing said: “Since housing returned to council control last April, our aim has been to ensure that we have a truly responsive, efficient service that delivers value for money and places our residents at the heart of everything we do.
“For that to happen, it is absolutely vital that we know what leaseholders think about how we have been performing over the last eight months. It is therefore crucial that as many leaseholders as possible attend this conference so that we can speak to them at first hand and decide where we need to channel our efforts most.”
The conference is on Saturday, January 28 from 9:30am until 12:45pm at Hammersmith Town Hall, King Street, W6 8JU. The main presentation will start at 10:30am.
