Home Composting advice

After the big home composter giveaway, green-fingered enthusiasts can now get expert advice on how to get the most from their new piece of gardening kit.

H&F made 3,000 free home composters available in February after deciding to stop separate garden waste collections.

Trained composting advisors from WRAP (Waste Resource Action Programme) will be on hand to answer questions, at the following locations:

• Avonmore Primary School, Avonmore Road, West Kensington - Monday May 18, 7pm to 8:30pm
• Farmer Market, Lyric Square, Hammersmith - Thursday May 21, 10am to 3:30pm
• Green Fest, Furnivall Gardens, Hammersmith – Sunday June 14, 1pm to 5pm
• Farmer Market, Lyric Square, Hammersmith – Thursday July 2, 10am to 3:30pm
• Farmer Market, Lyric Square, Hammersmith - Thursday August 6, 10am to 3:30pm
• Farmer Market, Lyric Square, Hammersmith - Thursday September 3, 10am to 3:30pm
• Farmer Market, Lyric Square, Hammersmith - Thursday October 1, 10am to 3:30pm

Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for crime and street scene, said: “These sessions will enable residents to learn how to get the best from their composter. Driving large lorries round the borough’s streets to collect a small amount of garden waste clearly makes less ecological sense than each garden owner recycling their own garden waste so it is vital that residents know what they are doing.”
