Goldhawk Road inquiry ends
Tuesday June 15, 2010
A public inquiry about a controversial housing and business development has come to an end after three weeks.
Last September, Hammersmith & Fulham Council gave developers LondonNewcastle permission to build 57 new houses and flats, along with eight new business units, on the site of Goldhawk Road Industrial Estate.
But some neighbouring residents, including Brackenbury Residents’ Association, have campaigned against the scheme, saying they fear it will cause traffic and parking problems, place new demands on local services and drive away local businesses.
The application was called in by the Department of Communities and Local Government and the Planning Inspectorate’s Olivia Spencer brought the inquiry, which began on May 25, to an end on June 8. A decision is expected to be announced in late summer.
