Golden Burritos agree to pay fine

Tuesday February 23, 2010

A company that decided to appeal a £7,000 flytipping fine has abandoned its challenge before it reached court.

Golden Burritos Limited, the company that owns the Spanish Tapas Bar on Fulham Palace Road, was hit with the hefty penalty in November 2009 after being found guilty of ditching numerous plastic sacks and boxes under Hammersmith Flyover.

Initially, Golden Burritos denied that they were responsible for the flytip and decided to challenge the penalty at Crown Court.

However, the company has now done a U-turn and has decided to pay the council in full.

Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for crime and street scene, said: “I am delighted that Golden Burritos has not decided to waste everyone’s time by appealing against this fine. Residents are demanding cleaner streets and we will not hesitate to prosecute offenders on their behalf. The evidence against Golden Burritos was overwhelming so heaven only knows why they wanted to challenge the fine.”
