Munster road/Fulham rd junction appalling by the Durrell Arms. The pavement far to narrow. No curb so it's impossible to know where the road ends and the pavement begins, cars jumping the lights. Tens of families trying to cross at busy times. Please take note of the comments below.
The other three corners of the junction have been improved so why not this one?
From Another worried Mum!! on 19/05/2012 at 16:27
Thanks to the King's Road being closed for 7 weeks I reckon the box junction at Bagley's Lane/New King's Road will make a million pounds throughout that period. Could the council kindly publish how much they've made in fines during this period in the Hammersmith & Fulham Chronicle please? That way it proves that the box junction is flawed as you will see the vast minority of motirists will get caught in it.

Please note this will be a news story in 7 weeks time. Mark my words!!!

No Car Club space in Black Lion Lane South! Resident spaces in zone M along Hammersmith Mall are insufficient as is. Builders, dumpsters often take up spaces on long term basis, leaving residents who pay parking tax without spaces To allocate one or more to commercial interests like Hertz is indefensible. Stop selling our roads twice over!
From Phoenicia on 16/05/2012 at 11:37
Now that King's Rd is closed for 7 weeks for roadworks, how about opening traffic at the Chelsea Design Centre or some of the side streets? Traffic this morning was utterly ridiculous. If this lasts two months we'll all go mad.

The new car club bays are meant to relieve car parking stress!!! Is that a joke? Lalor Street in Fulham has just had one of these bays created, in an area which is already difficult to park. How is taking one of the few spaces available going to help relieve car parking stress?
I live on Fulham Palace Road, so have to park on the roads behind my house. Take into account all the other people who have to also do this and we have a parking problem! The solution is not a car club bay, but prehaps looking into and changing the car permit zones, so I can park near Bishops park (where there is space to park). If the car permit zones were not so restrictive, then maybe car parking would not be such an issue!!!

Can you put a ''Keep Clear'' box on the Eastbound carriageway of the Uxbridge Road at the junction with Ormiston Grove to allow traffic to cross the Uxbridge Road into Conningham Road when the traffic lights at Bloemfontein Road are Red? It would transform that junction in the mornings!

From Uxbridgian on 30/03/2012 at 22:37
The pavement at the top of Bloemfontein Rd, W12 between the Uxbridge Rd and Bloemfontein Avenue is very narrow and dangerous as traffic accelerates to make it through a green light at the corner. Not only are many of the paving stones unattached and flip as you step onto them here, there are lorries making deliveries and reversing across the pavement outside no. 1 Bloemfontein Rd frequently. They even use forklift trucks to make these deliveries, closing the pavement. It seems a residential entrance is being used commercially, making it perilous for small children and any pedestrians using the pavement.
Also, on this strip of road the double yellow lines don't continue far enough along. These means these same lorries park and deliver both outside no 1 and opposite, regularly causing blockages to normal traffic as the 228 and 283 buses can't pass in the space remaining. The double yellow should extend all the way to the parking bays.

The stretch of the A4 that crosses the Cromwell Rd rail bridge is a death trap for cyclists. They slow down with the incline and traffic continues at motorway pace after the Hammersmith flyover, despite 30mph signs.

The alternatives for a cyclist travelling from West Kensington Station to the big Tesco on the East side are to cycle behind the metal barrier on the footpath (illegal) or take a 1.5km detour around Earl's Court.

Please install a lane for cyclists. I've been cycling in London every day for 6 years, and this bit of road is terrifying.
From Brad H on 26/03/2012 at 10:08
I cycle through Shepherd''s Bush on my way to work, and the air pollution last week was horrendous. What are you doing to bring pollution levels in Hammersmith and Fulham down? Why don''t you ban high-polluting vehicles on days when bad air pollution is predicted?
From Martin G on 25/03/2012 at 20:51
please have lights on Putney Bridge altered to allow easier traffic flow over bridge travelling south. Also introduce peak hour restrictions in residential streets used as rat runs

Accident waiting to happen! On junction Munster Rd and Fulham Rd outside Durrell Arms Pub. The pavement is far too narrow and small when waiting to cross over Fulham Rd at lights. It''s a super busy crossing at school run time, with lots of children, scooters, buggies, walking children and parents. It's also a super busy Junction with fast moving traffic and you are forced to stand dangerously close to the edge of the pavement since you can't move back. The planters & furniture from pub don't give you any space to move back and pavement is tiny. Pedestrians waiting to cross at the light block the pavement (as there's nowhere to go!) making it hard for others to walk around the corner, ie those not waiting to cross. One day a child will end up under a car, by accidentally "slipping" forward on a much-too-narrow and much too small pavement. Pls take action before it's too late!
From worried mum on 16/03/2012 at 13:40
Accident waiting to happen!! On the corner of Fulham Rd and Munster Rd, directly outside the Durrell Arms Pub, the pavement is dangerously narrow. Pub planters prevent you moving away from street. You are forced to stand dangerously close to yellow lines with traffic shaving past on this busy road. It's a super busy pavement with children at school run times, with kids, bikes, scooters, buggies all waiting to cross AND pedestrians trying to pass those who are waiting to cross and are blocking the way. There's nowhere to go! I took pictures to prove this point but can't post them here.

Re street furniture, there is a huge sign outside 13 Branksea Street indicating there are road bumps in Kingwood Road. This seems superfluous as the bumps are obvious. In any event, with constant traffic, it is impossible to drive at speed in these streets.
From Barbara Cates on 14/03/2012 at 11:00
To ease circulation and congestion, please can you make Atalanta / Branksea streets one way coming up from Fulham Palace Road into Kingwood Road. These streets are used as a cut through plus there are many deliveries etc., to the Quad office block, let along football days. Also frequent builders vans for houses, etc. A one way system should ease the flow and save motorists turning round in the middle of the streets.
From Barbara Cates on 14/03/2012 at 10:57
Please stop cyclists using the river walk between Craven Cottage and Hammersmith. This is used by young and old to walk along the river. There are an increasing number of cyclists rushing past - they should use Stevenage Road, not the river walk which is a pedestrian area.
From Barbara Cates on 14/03/2012 at 10:53
The lights at Hammersmith roundabout that control traffic coming from the A4 and Hammersmith Bridge need to be green for longer as they cause huge tailbacks and serious delay. Currently about 5 cars and a bus get thru each time it's green which is unacceptable for the volume of traffic. The amount of time given to each green should be commensurate with the volume of traffic, yet all lights around the roundabout are on the same time settings. It's easy to fix, please do something!!
From Organic116 on 12/03/2012 at 10:03
Please please can a filter light turning right be fitted at the traffic lights on the junction with Fulham Palace Road & Lillie Road, plus a traffic light be fitted at the far side of the junction on Fulham Palace Road so that those turning right into Lillie Road can see when the lights are changing. I'm sure the filter light would vastly improve the flow along Fulham Palace towards Hammersmith. Thanks for your consideration.
From Jane, Woodlawn Road on 11/03/2012 at 19:00
Improvements needed to junction of Glenthorne Road and Hammersmith Grove:

- Filter markings (left turn, right turn arrows) in Glenthorne Road approaching junction.

- Traffic island in Hammersmith Grove opposite large side gate of 26-28 Hammersmith Grove. To force traffic turning right out of Glenthorne Road to turn out onto the far left hand lane only.

Current problem: In the right hand lane as you turn right out of Glenthorne Road onto Hammersmith Grove there are white arrows painted on the road pointing towards the junction indicating it is a two way street. There is also a ''two way traffic'' road sign facing you as you approach the junction. Every morning there are cars driving in the opposite direction to these arrows, flagrantly going against the two way road layout. Either make this section one way or, as suggested, add an island to make it clearer to drivers that it is two way. The current layout is too confusing and means that any traffic, - bicycles mainly, now the car park is closed - faces a dangerous stream of traffic turning right out of Glenthorne Road into the right hand lane.

Burlington Road, to get most from extremely narrow pavements & improve appearance:
1) Remove post outside No.11, Disabled parking sign to be attached to brick gatepost of No.11.
2) Light outside No.17 to be moved to opposite pavement and placed in position of one of the existing bollards.
3) Throughout road oblige BT run current elevated ''phone cables underground to remove supporting posts and improve visual aspect at a stroke.
4) Whole street needs a critical review as to placement of street furniture.

Rigault Road, cul-de-sac section off Fulham High St.
Make one side (possibly both?) angled parking to get the maximum number of spaces.

Junction of Fulham Rd., Fulham Palace Rd., & Fulham High St., remove all the ( very unsightly) barriers around the junction and roundabout.

The junction of Hestercombe Avenue and Munster road is difficult for pedestrians and motorists. It is a cut through from Munster to Fulham Road and the parking at the end of Hestercome Avenue is too close to Munster Road. If a large vehicle is parked there it is hard for motorists to see children crossing. Many go to school on scooters in the morning and I have seen a few near misses. Please put a larger free space at the end of Hestercome Avenue to aid visibility.
From jennifer on 09/03/2012 at 20:37
with reference to consultation on Environmental Improvements works around Fulham Palace Road West. Make streets off FPR alternate one way from Bishops Road to Charring Cross Hospital. Woodlawn Road left as two way. This will stop motorists trying to do u-turns and trying to bypass traffic on FPR. It will also aid the 424 buses which are constantly stuck in side roads. A secondary traffic light at Lillie rd j/w FPR for cars turning right into Lillie rd will reduce the number of near misses. Introduce a right turn filter at traffic lights FPR j/w Lillie Rd. Introduce a visitors voucher for a nominal amount on football match days as family and freinds can only visit for 1 hour at weekends.

We live in gowan avenue. In rush hour and at night cars race down our road as one of the widest streets connecting munster and fulham palace. I cannot believe I am actually saying this but I wish there were speed bumps! I think one way would however make matters worse.

Also would be very helpful if on fulham match days that zone w residents could park in zone y as there are always spaces over there due to the match day restrictions but our side of the fulham palace road is chaos.

Consultation response:
The waiting time at the traffic lights exiting East Acton at Savoy Cicus Junction is too short - only three cars can exit before they change causing queues.

Perhaps more bins on Erconwald Street between East Acton Station and Old Oak Common Lane Shops as there is a litter problem.

Savoy Circus Junction could do with a makeover and clearer signage - like Oxford Circus junction!

Problem with parking near shops on stretch of Old Oak Common Lane between Du Cane Road and the A40 - cars pull up on the road and use hazard lights.

The bus shelter at bus stop LB, Adelaide Grove on the North side of the Uxbridge road has been moved, but the rubbish bin was not moved. It blocks the pavement at the middle of the bus shelter so that pedestrians cannot get by if there are many people waiting for the bus, forcing people to walk on the road.
From kay on 05/03/2012 at 18:15
Entrance to Devonport Rd W12 should be signed ONE WAY at the Uxbridge Rd entrance and in the street itself as cars attempt to turn around in the road and exit into the Uxbridge Rd - thereby causing chaos and danger to cars coming in. There is NOT enough room for cars to pass and the other end of the road is NO ENTRY. Please please get this done !

1. All river walk areas to allow bicycles.. Getting them off the roads.
2. Make fulham all one parking zone like kensington, it will encourage business in the area.
3. If too extreme, merge alphabet streets x and y together. Why differentiate them
4. Stop super sewer, fight harder
5. Expand 20p for half an hour parking to new areas like fulham broadway, fulham palace road, hammersmith ie near shops. Again encourages local business shopping
6 stop doing road wk on fulham palace road, do it all at once over Hols, don''t know a time when it was clear of roadworks
7. Work longer hours on road works to get it done quicker
8. New road system at hammersmith broadway is little bit better.

It would be good to get more space between sidewalks and the buslane on uxbridge road. If for whatever reason you are pushed off the sidewalk or take that dangerous step yourself, there are huge chances you ill be hit straight by a bus. More bike lanes all around, please o w can travel safely on bikes to hydepark from the uxbridge road.

Re: The crossing directly outside Barons Court tube station on Palliser Road. Perhaps a hatched box or something that would make it easier to cross to the opposite side. It is impossible for people with buggies or young children, or the elderly to cross here, especially during the rush hour. Cars are so impatient at this time of the day, they pay no regard to parents with their young children/buggies trying to get to the other side. You are left trying to squish through cars that are bumper to bumper, even when the light are red drivers will still not leave a decent gap between each other. It is leathal!

Getting H&F moving:
movement up and down Fulham Palace Road seems to have eased BUT at great cost to Glenthorne road/Beadon Road/Lyric Square car park/Hammersmith Grove. The situation was bad before the restrictions on the Hammersmith flyover but now, particularly with two lanes coming in from Hammersmith Grove now that Beadon road car park has closed, this area is becoming extremely congested with 30 minutes not uncommon to pass through the area in a car. Suggest:
1. that Hammersmith Grove is made two way to the top so it is possible for vehicles exiting e.g.Lyric car park to move North and West without having to go around the Hammersmith roundabout. This will also help Beadon road traffic as less cars will be entering at this point so cars will move more quickly.
2. The traffic lights entering Hammersmith roundabout from Beadon Road need to be at green for longer to allow more than three or four cars to exit - perhaps
3. a hatched box would be useful as it would allow cars to not get blocked in and for the buses to cross across the lanes to the bus garage.

When can we have pedestrina controoled crossing lights at the traffic lights at the junction of Wandsworh Bridge Road, Carnwarth Road and Townmead Road. There re 4 bus routes that use this junction. Also there are filter lights for the traffic making it very difficult to see when it is safe to cross. School children, mothers with prams and the elderly use this crossing. There are large blocks of flats near by. I am tired of excuses when I contact a department. You have pedestrian crossings at other junctions so why not a proper cossing with pedestrian controlled lights at this junction?
From elderly resident on 11/02/2012 at 12:19
20 new bays round Loftus Road will have a negligible effect when it is needed most - on march days. If the council is so pleased with fulham match day restrictions, why can''t it do the same round QPR?
And why does the visitor parking scheme have to operate in such a complicated way? It just means that residents end up paying for our visitors'' parking as its on our account - its very awkward asking people to cough up to pay you back!!
From CL on 04/02/2012 at 06:17
i aplaud your freezing paking fees but i would have loved you to change your policy on parking and have one parking permit to cover the whole borough so as residents do not have to pay twice. i would expect to pay more for this permit but it would give residents more freedom. I go to hopital pay to park in local streets i go to watch Fulham play have to pay again, go shopping have to pay again to park and so on. one permit works well in chelsea so why not here? Our permit gives you no guarantee of a parking space in a restricted area.

From frustrated resident on 03/02/2012 at 14:29
Please don''t kill off what few trees we have in Dunraven Rd W12.

There are plans to create more parking spaces for QPR games which are played evenings & weekends when supporters can park FOC in Dunraven Rd on the single yellow line there. To move the parking spaces to what is currently the pavement achieves nothing.

From DH on 03/02/2012 at 12:32
I don''t know the value of the new spaces in Loftus road as I don''t know what the demand is like but most of it sounds like spin to me. In minford gardens the council deliberately restricts the number of bays. At the western end there are approx 10-20 yards of single yellow so on one side there is space for at least one more bay and on the other 2 more; however this will not be done because it''s a zone with no parking 7 days until 8pm (NOT clearly marked) and not far from the green, empire and westfield so produces lots of penalty fine income. Also in the middle of Minford in order to allow the siting of a bollard to protect cyclists and continue to allow larger vehicles they have created another single & double yellow patch outside St Simons Church. It''s completely excessive, I''d guess 45 metres - once again to raise more penalty charge income. I wouldn''t mind the penalty trap so much but it reduces the amenity to the residents; with a few high density buildings around street parking is very limited. PS also agree with Hels re thoughtless parking and randolph - no one reads these comments!
From chris on 03/02/2012 at 11:39
I find this comment section utterly frustrating, is anyone from the council reading it and if so please install disqus or some other free comment plugin to actually respond and engage with your residents.

On the subject of the parking price freeze, big wow, it was already expensive and way ahead of its time in terms of cost. Minimum charge is £1.10 which is a lot if you want to pick up something in a shop and parking for 10 minutes. The ridiculous parking permit set up does not work and needs to be reviewed so that you can park anywhere in the borough. We are the second smallest borough for crying out loud and probably have the most parking zones. H&F are good at making out that they are doing motorists a favour but we are robbed blind
From Natasha on 03/02/2012 at 10:56
The parking is divided in such a small areas, Basically the car can only be parked around your house within 30 meters, outside your permitted Zone, minimum charge is 30 minutes, often I only need to park for 10-15 minutes, end up paying for half hour, otherwise £60 PCN is always expected. These people have superman''s speed for issuing PCN. Strongly suggest the council should have a look at our Neighbor parking system: Kensington and Chelsea. You can pay for just for 5 minutes if it is what you need. and with resident''s parking permit, you can park anywhere within the council.
From Zoe on 03/02/2012 at 10:35
Please allow more car club dedicated bays in the Alphabet Streets and also some Borris Bike locations - Bishop's Park / Fulham Cemetery seem sensible and would have a significant catchment area to draw upon. When will the new locations be announced?
From BG on 19/01/2012 at 14:48
We need trafic calming measures on Rylston Road to reclaim the area for the community rather than through traffic. Travelling from Lille road to Dawes road, Rylston road narrows dramatically at Church creating a bottleneck. Cars are driven aggresively though congestion making road unsafe. This road is used heavily by young children due to nearby primary school. Previous trafic calming measure have moved the dangers from Estcourt road to Rylston Road.

Batoum Gardens and Lena Gardens, which are not very large streets are heavily used as shortcuts between Hammersmith Grove and Shepherd's bush road, resulting in traffic jams, impossibility for cars to pass by, and creating a dangerous environment for children leaving in the area. Could the borough study the possibility of making Batoum and Lena one way streets, in order to simply solve this problem ?
From EP on 08/01/2012 at 16:14
Boris bike docking station:

On the Fulham road, heading west after the Munster road junction, on the south pavement before Fulham Park Gardens. The pavement is wide, and after the row of shops there is plenty of space with limited foot traffic. This location is also about 10 minutes walk from either Parsons Green or Putney Bridge station, and would improve convenience both for commuting residents and visitors to the local restaurants and pubs (Sukho, Fulham Wine Rooms, Pizza Express, Durrell Arms, Manson).
From Ragnarsson on 06/01/2012 at 17:00
I have a residents parking permit for zones B/C. It is often very difficult to find a parking space, not because there is no space at all but because the spaces available are too small even though I have a very small car. This is not only due to incondsiderate parking by others - when cars arrive when the street is near to empty it is hard to decide where each parking place should be leading to these too small gaps between cars. If individual bays were marked with painted lines (not assigned to any particular address) they would show where to park and would maximise use of the available space (some smaller bays could be made for motorbikes).
From Hels on 03/01/2012 at 23:14

Lillie Road - I concur with previous comments. This road is a joke in the morning. The lights at W.Brompton tude cause absolute grid lock as does the roundabout at North End Road. This whole area is a nightmare and needs to be addressed. The frequent (and recent) works on Lillie Road held things up for ages and do not appear to have been for any purpose, similarly the works on Munster Road. Presumably they did, but it is the second time in a year the same area of road has been dug up.

Please will LBHF do something about this intolerable situation?

Some ideas to help solve the problem:

1. Reducing the number of parking zones for residents will help traffic flow within the borough. This could be as cheap as just printing a
new permit for residents with the extra letters added.
2. Reduce the number of bus stops on Lillie Road.
3. Change light timing at West Brompton crossing.
4. Move the zebra crossings that surround the N.End Rd roundabout. They are dangerous and cause considerable traffic.
5. Consider moving N.End Rd market. Sad as this is, the roads are becoming too congested and this is one of the causes.

p.s. does anyone read these comments?
From Randolph on 07/12/2011 at 11:29
My personal belief is that the standard of road safety displayed by many cyclists leaves a lot to be desired. This is not to point fingers but just to say that any lack of mindfulness for road safety, including from cyclists needs to be addressed as it can really harm other road users. This is from a pedestrian viewpoint and i can give specific examples in H&F.
From Colin, Hammersmith on 06/12/2011 at 14:38
It is great news that Boris bikes will soon be coming to our borough. An excellent location for a docking station would be Starch Green where there is wide paved area behind the Green. It would be good if the Council could keep pace with public''s use of cycles please and ensures that we have stations to tie them to. When cycles are attached to railings is is ugly and unnecessary. please install new racks near stations, shops theatres (Bush Theatre for example).

It would also be helpful if the council could accept that residents like to welcome guests in their cars and they can provide a limited number of guest parkings tickets (not @£1.80 an hour) for residents. Many other councils do this.

The council should not make parking difficult (expensive) where shops trade (eg Askew Road)

Dreadful congestion on a daily basis during rush hour on Lillie Load up to Earl''s Court. The travel distance of 3-4 busstops (from Fulham Pools) to West Brompton Road takes about 20 minutes which is totally unacceptable!! There are too many roads with lots of traffic coming out on Lillie Road between North End Road and West Brompton which completely grid locks traffic here and the chaotic and uncontrolled roundabout on the crossing of Lillie Road and North End Road is an absolute joke!

Traffic down Palliser Road is two way from Barons Court Road going South. No drivers know or understand this and turn in from Comeragh Road going North in the middle of the road making it impossible to turn left into Palliser Road going South. Drivers shout and curse at you thinking you are in the wrong. There should be a clear sign that this is two way - or you should make it one-way. We live in Barton Road and are completely wedged in by the one way system and have to park a road away in order to avoid a 20 mins traffic jam outside our house in the morning.
From JAF on 12/11/2011 at 13:39
Where Barons Court Road meets North End Road is one way Westwards. No one uses this as there is a no right turn off North End Road travelling South and anyone travelling North, uses one of the more southern roads such as Comeragh Road. If it was one way Eastwards towards North End Road, it would ease the congestion of cars getting onto North End Road as there are pedestrian traffic lights just before it and so the traffic is stopped anyway. It would give one more route onto North End Road and would make that bottle neck less busy.
From JAF on 12/11/2011 at 13:32

Please can you perhaps in conjunction with the football ground arrange for lighting to be put along the river walk of bishops park. Regular users and dog walkers flagged this up earlier but with the shorter evenings this now a real concern for safety. It is even more exaggerated on match days as the fans cannot spread out onto both paths to exit the ground therefore adding to problems in the adjacent streets. Please come down and monitor this at the relevant times.
From Annette Aylwin on 11/11/2011 at 15:54
Regarding Boris bikes docking station - opposite Fulham Broadway shopping/tube entrance. There is a very wide, unused pavement area by the pelican crossing to the side of the Town Hall. Also somewhere on Parson's Green - perhaps on the southside by the New Kings Road, again where there is plenty of wide pavement space. PLEASE DON'T TAKE UP PARKING SPACES if it is not necessary.
From Mrs C on 10/11/2011 at 12:16
Boris Bikes Stations should be in front of and behind Charing Cross Hospital so that visitors and staff working there can use them.

I''m hoping that the new Imperial West development at the top of Wood Lane will include a Boris Bikes docking station. Or maybe there would be room for such an installation opposite Imperial West, on Wood Lane, outside the Nisa store which has a wide pavement, although this would probably have to be smartened up first!
From Jacqueline Shaw on 05/11/2011 at 12:02
I have lived in Fulham for 1 year now after moving from RBK&C. I have found the parking impossible in comparison. There is no sense of community with the tiny scope of area allowed for each permit area. We need a universal permit to help businesses. When the building collapsed earlier in Fulham Rd we were stuck in our car unable to park and leave our car and walk which is what we would have done if we had an universal parking permit that allowed us to park all over the Borough.
•Why should I be penalised when I go to my town hall and have to pay parking because I don't live live in Area A? This never happened in RBK&C. Arguments about football fans crowding residents doesn't add up as I lived in Ifield Road next to Stamford Bridge and yes it was difficult in a Wed when there was match games but these did not outweigh all the benefits of the universal permit. For the uninitiated (ie those who haven't received a PCN for parking in that particular bay) it is so difficult to understand the parking instructions in each post as there are so many on each post. I question how much policing parking Costs
From CTM Bettridge on 03/11/2011 at 21:28
By Stamford Brook tube station as it would provide a link via bicycle to Shepherd Bush instead of complicated and slow changes on tube. Also traffic on Goldhawk Rd is often heavy esp at rush hour, and there are three big schools nearby. Users could link with the river too. Dukes Meadows by Barnes Bridge would also be a good spot to link with overland train (& not to have to struggle to push a bike up and over the bridge).
From Sara F on 03/11/2011 at 08:47
Starch Green at the bottom of Ashchurch Grove would be a fantastic location as there is plenty of space and a focal point from Askew Road, Goldhawk Road and opposite the northern entrance to Ravenscourt Park.
From Robert on 02/11/2011 at 23:35
Many employees of Hammersmith Hospital and Imperial College commute by bike via Du Cane Rd/Wood Lane/Old Oak Common Rd but this can be quite dangerous. Installing a bike rail on the foot bridge over the tube line outside the hospital would allow cyclists approaching from the south to wheel their bikes over the bridge and take alternate routes on quieter streets like Bloemfontein Rd. It also connects the hospital to the westway ramp underpass next to the BBC. Rails like this are present on most public stairways in the Netherlands. It can be as simple as a flat metal strip several inches wide bolted onto the steps below the handrail on one side.

I've received an email on 2 November announcing a transport summit on 8 November. To send this out at such short notice is poor bordering on incompetent. This is an extremely importing matter and the first I've seen of it is six days before. I cannot come. I wonder how many people are in the same position. Perhaps it's a tactic.
From Georgina on 02/11/2011 at 09:48
What was going on at Hammersmith Broadway on the night of Tuesday 1st November? I was stuck there in stationary traffic from 10:20pm until midnight. I applaud your desire to get the borough trafic moving but if you can''t do it at night what hope do you have? How much did this lack of traffic management inconvenience people and increase congestion and pollution levels?
From Chris on 02/11/2011 at 08:31

It would be great to get a parking permit in Cathnor road. Currently if I have a visitor, they have to pay £2.20 per hour from 9-5. It seems really unfair when other boroughs such as Wandsworth or acton have a reasonable fee for a day permit.
Thanks

I am a resident of Harwood Terrace, which is used as a cut through from Imperial Way to the King''s rd or just King''s rd to New King''s for no obvious reason. The level of congestion for a residential road is very high, I can''t think of another road in the vicinity with the same problem. There are aggressive scenes several times a day as cars get gridlocked on the road itself due to the traffic calming obstacles, because large vehicles enter through the wrong side of the rd to avoid the width restrictions or because vehicles turning right from Imp Way block cars going left to Bagleys. There is a strong argument for making the rd one way I believe from Imp Way eastbnd, other traffic should use the King''s rd. I find that because drivers think they are making a short cut, they drive far too aggressively.

The south bound 0ne-Way-Traffic status of Rainville Rd is abused daily. On odd occasions even by a police vehicle! It appears the monitoring camera at the Wingrave junction is not working and is cetainly no deterent. Please let me know which you decide to act on.

From CSL on 25/10/2011 at 09:17
Lillie Road/Munster Road/Fulham Palace Road - the whole area is a disgrace. I''ve worked around there for 17 months and the problems have only gotten worse. It is literally quicker to walk than take a bus - I regularly overtake them whilst strolling. The bus lanes are useless - any traffic inevitably cripples them too & the bus drivers are like automotons - unable or unwilling to use any nouse to keep their buses moving. And taking a tube in/out of earl''s court is nothing short of a joke...surely there is no point in the driver announcing that ''...we''re just being held at a red signal blah blah...'', when such delays become the norm, rather than something exceptional.

Who is ultimately accountable for this shambles..? They should hang their head in shame,
From Tamim on 23/10/2011 at 00:10

- Change the phasing of the traffic lights at Bagleys Lane/New Kings Road. The fact that only 2 cars can get through from Bagleys at a time, causes huge delays in the morning. The fact that this box junction raises so much money, should also be investigated.
- Let Zone Z cars through Chelsea Harbour - this would ease congestion at Harwood Terrace / Bagleys Lane.
- Move the pedestrian crossing from West Cromwell Road/North End Road to allow traffic heading west to move - this crossing causes ridiculous congestion at all times.
- I also resent having to pay extortionate parking charges when in other parking zones in the Borough.

As a keen cyclist I can see Parsons Green is crying out to be linked to the Boris bike network and is essential to help people get out of their cars in transport black spots in between Tube stations. Would recommend the alley way behind Parsons Green Tube station and further north off the roads running north and parallel to the Fulham Road e.g. Bishops Road.
From Kit New on 12/10/2011 at 09:51
(1) Parsons Green Tube and, because I expect that will prove extremely popular (and, hopefully help to reduce the congestion on the Embankment!), also (2) around the local roads in Parsons Green e.g. on Bishops Road where there are wide pavements/car parking spaces to make room for docking stations/on the side roads e.g. Clonmel Road, Lilyville, Winchedon, etc, and (3) by the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital (lots here please!). I used Boris Bikes most days when I lived more centrally and miss them not extending out this far. Hurrah they are coming!

I think, Kwest hotel or shopping centre would be an ideal location and of course Kensington Olympia station from the side of the Exhibition halls (there should be a HUGE docking station there) and/or 37 degrees fitness club.

And another long overdue action should be a two-way cycle traffic on Olympia Way, because people still violate the outdated one-way rule and it should be formalised properly because of the bridge and impossibility to move around.

Thank you!

I recommend a Boris Bike stand At Imperial Wharf station or somewhere that can easily be accessed by the residents of Imperial Wharf and Chelsea Creek, when opened. This will provide a direct and easy link to the shops of the Kings Road. Using public transport, at least one change is necessary.

Ideal location is at the junction of Rostrevor and Fulham Roads. There is an existing bay which is an ideal size, and usually wasted as not large enough for two cars, but way to big for one. Central to Fulham shops. Perfect.

Boris Docking Station: I would like to suggest a site by the Old Oak Community Centre, on Wormwood Scrubs, by the junction of Erconwald Street and Braybrook Street. Suggestion for Bike Station:

Green space on the jct between Wood Ln & N Pole Rd or alternatively, the fallow "wildflower corner" plot on the jct between Eynham Rd & N Pole Rd. The green spaces nearby mean the local population density is lower but the location is moderately distant from the Tube, about 1.5km from Latimer Rd or White City. There is also a concentration of bus routes and a bike stand would provide a connection with Harlesden (from route 220), as well as generally relieving bus congestion.

A great location for a docking. Station for the bikes would be in the parking bay next to baronscourt tube station, on margravine gardens. It does have enough space it will get more neighbourghs cycling and will help reduce the already traffic congested area. Barons court has the picadilly line and district line and having the bikes there would provide a great transport link.

Boris bikes at Barons court would be ideal as there are no buses that run near there. Also, near Fulham cemetary/Fulham palace road would be good, again to cover the fact that the residential areas are relatively quite far from the tube stations. Boris bikes at Westfields shopping centre would be a fantastic addition to a modern mall and give a great image (and provide a great service) to young people.

I am a minicab driver, born, living and working in the LBHF. To get the borough moving, some side roads could be changed to one-way roads, as many are too narrow to accommodate parked cars and two-way traffic. This may cut down on aggressive driving, road-rage and having find a convenient place to pull-in to allow unpolite road users the space to pass!
From G Simon, Fulham on 16/09/2011 at 13:47
I got caught in the box junction and after seeing photos that proved I was in it, paid the fine. But, because I was on holiday when the letter was sent and therefore paid the fine 14 days after receipt (when I opened it) I have now been given a higher fine, my letters ignored and a Warrant of Execution - is that really how residents are treated?! We can't win can we - even if we pay the fine you want more!
From N Lyndhurst on 14/09/2011 at 12:56
Just read the ''get h+f moving'' pamphlet. The only way for traffic to keep moving is to have less of it, which means encouraging all other forms of transport including cycling, and regular, cheap public transport. ''Fair deal'' for motorists has to mean not being stuck in traffic jams, and having more good alternatives to using the car.

We are leaseholders in Sulivan Court, Fulham. Recently I planned to upgrade our flat. I need to employ contractors. I tried to get a temporary parking permit for my contractor. I was prepared to pay for a permit for my contractor. To my surprise the Housing Dept has no such facility exists. My contractor would either have to find a visitors spot on the estate, which are all usually taken up by others avoiding street parking fees, or park on roads off the estate. I hope you agree that this is nonsense. It means that contractors vans that could be parked in Sulivan Court where their work is are now being parked on the over crowded side streets. If residents of the side streets knew this to be the case I am sure they would object. This problem is also discriminatorily because when a council tenant wants a repair they have a contractor with a parking permit parking outside their block. Where as a leaseholder does not have that facility! I hope can introduce a system whereby contractors can park temporarily on the estate, for a fee, and thus relieving the well known overcrowding on the side streets around Sulivan Court. I look forward to your feedback.

When does the "lane rental" scheme start taking effect?

Based on admittedly limited evidence from Farm Lane (two excavations few weeks and not 10m apart) and Fulham Broadway (pedestrian lights work stalled for weeks) I'm getting the feeling either the scheme hasn''t started yet, the rental prices aren't any kind of a deterrent, or the scheme does little if anything to improve local traffic conditions.
From Tommi, Fulham on 02/08/2011 at 20:58
Why is it that when the tube between High St Kensington and Edgware Road is closed, the Brompton Road has resumed its lane closures, we rip up the pedestrian refuges on the Fulham Broadway, effectively reducing traffic to one lane for six weeks, only to see nothing done to the refuges for nearly the last four weeks of the period. Unbelievable! Why are we spending money on such ridiculousness and how are they allowed to be left as they are for nearly four weeks? If there was such urgency about this project, ripping the existing ones up and replacing them with the new refuges should have been accomplished in one week, not six, particularly when it has had such a detrimental impact on traffic. Health and safety must have something to say about the state they have been left in while awaiting completion.

Please change the terms of the barrier. As an Imperial Wharf resident, and forced to use my car to drive into the centre of town because of bad transport connections, it is crazy to route me from Imperial Wharf roundabout up to Imperial Road, via New Kings Rd, into Lots Rd to arrive at the other side of the barrier and continue my trip down to the Embankment. Not only would it save CO2 emissions, but also would it reduce traffic on Kings Rd. Especially at peak times. To support the environment, you could charge a permit/fee to Chelsea Harbour neighbouring residents who need this kind of facility - and invest that back into the Get HF Moving programme. It is time to revise this 25+ year rulebook. And soon.

If/when you start upgrading pedestrian crossing signals to new ones showing countdown, can you affirm the countdown will also show how much longer pedestrians have to wait for the next green signal to facilitate smoothing pedestrian traffic? I'd hate to think the signals only purpose is to rush pedestrians out of the crossing in order to give more time to cars.

Yet another comment about the North end road/A4 Talgarth road traffic lights!!! I have lived in the area for the past 10 years and am amazed this problem of phasing has not been sorted out.
It is just such an obvious problem that the lack of action by LBHF breeds such an utter sense of increduality it borders on the contempt

From Priestly on 27/07/2011 at 14:04
Some months ago I had a request denied for the removal of the right turn, into Fulham Road from the Harwood Road traffic lights. This is because the road is two lanes and narrows at that point, the traffic queuing there to turn right causes long tail backs down to Kings Road. These tails backs during rush hour can delay Buses for twenty or thirty minutes, thereby making passengers late for Work or Hospital appointments
also Children for School.
From andronicus on 19/07/2011 at 12:16
You're calling your transport plan a "Driver's charter"? Improving the experience of drivers isn't going to help, it'll only make things worse. You should be encouraging people to stop using their cars and instead get on their bikes or public transport. Focus your energy on increasing the number of tubes, buses and dedicated cycle lanes. If drivers want a better experience, they can get out of their cars and join the 21st century.
From Luke on 19/07/2011 at 10:04
Yet another comment about the North end road/A4 Talgarth road traffic lights. There are several people complaining in the comments, so H&F should really take note of this one and do something. The traffic going north (towards Olympia/kensington)is appalling and often tails back to lillie road from 8am-8pm. I agree with some comments already made - the problem is the phasing of the lights for the pedestrian crossing. The phasing only allows 4-6 cars to turn left onto the A4 then they are stopped by the crossing. If a HGV is trying to turn left, this often blocks the whole road as they swing out to the right hand lane to turn left because the turn is so tight. When the crossing goes green for traffic, the lights on northend road go red, so only the ''slug'' of 3-6 cars at the crossin gets thro. The lights should be re-phased so that the north end road lights remain green for a further 10-15 seconds after the crossing lights go green. This would allow probably another 6-10 vehicles to flow through. Lets try this simple solution first before totally redesigning the pedestrian crossing and great expense.

I think there should be free residential parking in Godolphin Road on match days - it's just wrong that we have to pay when there are no spaces, and fans can come in and park anywhere. People coming to the football should be encouraged to use public transport on match days and not bring their cars into the area. We should charge people within a half-mile radius around the grounds to park.
From Godolphin Road resident on 12/07/2011 at 17:02
There are too many roadworks in the borough - they're everywhere and it''s been going on for years, in particular in Fulham Palace Road. The bus lanes should be extended everywhere for longer hours - that would help people who wouldn't then get stuck on buses.
From Christine Elliott on 12/07/2011 at 16:52
Banim Street and Aldensley Road are dangerous and I worry about the children corssing the road there. We're the only east to west road that you can turn up there, so people use it as a cut-through and drive their cars so fast down the road.
From Susan Weintaub on 12/07/2011 at 16:49
Reintroduce the left turn in Hammersmith Grove. This would cut the flow of traffic considerably around the Broadway Shopping Centre and Shepherds Bush Road (past Tesco). The car park should also have an exit into Glenthorne Road - often if there is a problem anywhere in that area, it can take an hour to get out of the car park. It is easier to go to Westfield and Hammersmith needs shoppers!

I feel strongly about Hammersmith, having lived here for more than 20 years, and people don't go into town because of this and parking.

I was so happy to read about the open days and the campaign happening.

From Andy Brown on 12/07/2011 at 16:43
There should be a great deal more done on cycling in the borough. The Superhighways are gimics - we want proper segregated cycling provision. We could have very high levels of cycling in London, a city that is in danger of breaching EU environmental guidelines on the level of air pollution. The priority should be different - it should not be on the car, it should be on cyclists. All surveys show that people are reluctant to cycle - in particular women - because of the fear of cars and the danger associated with cycling on the road. The Barclays hire bikes have helped but so much could be done very simply to improve and promote cycling, and we don't educate people.

Our borough has the highest residential density of any borough in the whole of London. Given a corresponding density of vehicles, is it surprising that our roads are clogged? We need more parks and open space and less development.

The Council is planning a slip road at the north end of Fulham Palace Rd to relieve traffic congestion. In the process the underpasses will be removed. Pedestrians will therefore cross the road at surface level and hold up the traffic - it will be a busy crossing.

The Council management of traffic is confused - they think to lessen traffic jams while, at the same time, encouraging development, and they hope to free up traffic while removing underpasses so pedestrians will cross the road and stop traffic.

Will somebody tell them their thinking is so far from being joined up it's an absolute cat's cradle?
From Rosemary Pettit on 05/07/2011 at 13:08
Sir, re junction North End Road and Talgarth Road and pedestrian crossing south of West Kensington station. If the pedestrian lights were linked to main traffic light on A4 so that the pedestrian lights could only operate (i.e. turn red) when the traffic was flowing west along the A4 through the main junction then the tailback at the lights would be reduced in that the pedestrian light would remain green when the right turn filter from eastbound A4 was allowed, as well as traffic south from North End Road.
From Jonathan Hume on 04/07/2011 at 15:34
Dear Sir,

I strongly support the provision of more club car parking in Hammersmith & Fulham. I am a resident that does not have a car and I think that I should be able to donate "my" space to the car clubs. I think that within the densly residential sections of Parsons Green there should be increased provision of club cars. I think we will regret the abolition of the congestion charge. I worry that w ewill all pay in terms of increased ill health and longer travellin times.

Finally the football fans have to be encouraged to tak epublic transport, the borough can not tolerate the increased traffic

To improve traffic flow ( bus, car and bike) on the New Kings Road stop traffic entering the New Kings Road from the south between Waterford Rd and Cambria Rd inclusively. There is a need to create a proper crossroad on the New Kings Road at the turning to Fulham Broadway by stopping traffic entering the New Kings Road from either the Wandsworth Br Rd or Harwood Terrace/Imperial Road i.e. NOT both as at present as it slows traffic down and causes congestion. There is a need to create a road from the Thames Embankment to Wandsworth Bridge through Chelsea Harbour area so reducing traffic on the single track New Kings Road.

From Sam on 01/07/2011 at 06:50
Removing or switching off unnecessary traffic lights would help. A prime example are the 4 sets of lights between the tip of Shepherds bush green and Shepherds bush road. It was rarely a problem before all the lights were installed a few years ago. Are 4 sets needed? The pair at the top of Rockley road/BP petrol station are a particular nonsense, so much so that even the buses rarely use their special filter/bus lane as they then have to fight to get across 3 lanes to turn right for example. Remember the M4 bus lane anyone? same treatment required. It seems perverse to change something free flowing into something with unnecessary artificial obstacles. There's been a weird control freakery about traffic lights at TFL in the last 10 years or so, putting lights on roundabouts (e.g. Hammersmith Broadway, Hanger lane Gyratory), and an idea that lights must turn red just as drivers reach them when travelling at 30mph. Witness the "green wave" in the Euston Road, designed for the exact opposite - to *keep* traffic moving at 30mph. Can we get designer of that scheme out of retirement? We need a mindset of enabling rather than preventing - and it would a great deal greener too!

Why can't we have Boris Bikes in Fulham??? Also, what is going on with the buses - 430 and 74? They do not seem to turn up on time and always arrive together and not spaced out so in the mornings makes journeys more congested. Can someone finally sort out the North End Road roundabouts at Lillie Road - remove the pedestrian crossings as these cause more delays
From Taylor on 20/06/2011 at 13:00
The 391 bus regularly goes from Sands End Sainsbury's back to the depot and VV empty! They claim to be re-positioning the bus but of course it passes bus stops where people are waiting. On one ocassion 3 busses in a row went past me all out of service. And when you complain to TFL they don't action the complaint. Sort out the busses and take cars off the roads.
From Steve on 17/06/2011 at 13:46
Someone else gave a solution for the terrible problems at the top of the north End Road ie that problems are caused because of the cars being unable to flow left to A4 due to a pedestrian crossing situated too close to the junction and therefore letting only 2 card turn at a time...i see this problem throughout the borough. Another very bad tailback caused for exactly this reason in on the Kings Road where traffic is unable to flow left onto Gunter Grove due to a pedestrian light which has been placed too close to the junction allowing only a couple of cars through at a time. This was never a blocked spot prior to these pedestrian lights and causes terrible and unnecessary tail backs. As i also walk along Kings Road it would make little difference to me if it were moved
From mia on 16/06/2011 at 10:28
1. Cameras needed to enforce box junctions generally, particularly at top of Wandsworth Bridge Road junction with New Kings Road.
2. Lobby Chelsea Harbour to allow Zone Z vehicles through the barrier. Kings Road from Harwood Rd to World's End is always clogged because vehicles aren't allowed to take the shorter route to embankment through CH. Restricting to Zone Z means minimal impact on the Harbour.
3. Earls Ct 1-way system is appalling at weekends & evenings. Need to tighten up the red route parking restrictions to keep the road clear when it matters.
From Raleigh Gilbert on 13/06/2011 at 16:31
The junction of the North End Road with the A4 has always been a nightmare. One major problem on the South-West side of the junction when heading towards Kensington is that only a few cars can turn left onto the A4 at any time due to a pedestrian crossing on the A4. This causes major disruption as the lanes then become blocked for drivers trying to cross the A4 to go to Kensington. The situation can be easily rectified by moving the pedestrian crossing back a bit further (to the end of the nanny gates for example) so that more cars turning left can wait at the lights and cause less in the way of hold ups to the traffic behind. Such a move would be cheap to do and create a simple solution to a problem that has existed for years.
From Divya on 13/06/2011 at 14:55
Council reply to questions about why we have small parking zones:
No system is perfect and there are issues with every kind of parking permit scheme especially in a small, densely populated, inner London borough like ours. The last time we had a borough wide consultation on parking in 2002, 72% of residents voted to keep our zonal system. There is no evidence to suggest this broad consensus has shifted. It would cost more than £1 million to change our current system to a single permit scheme covering the whole borough. Even if such a huge sum of money were available - which it is not - changing things would create new problems. We have a lot of tube stations in the borough and residents who live near them would face serious problems from commuters from other parts of the borough if we just had one big zone. Residents living close to one of the borough's three major football clubs, town centres or big music venues would also be seriously negatively affected. There are no easy solutions to parking stress but what we are seeking to achieve is the best outcome which is supported by as broad a majority of residents as possible.
From H&F Council spokesman on 08/06/2011 at 16:49
I agree that the match day restrictions should apply to all zones below the A4 for Fulham and Chelsea and above the A4 for QPR games which are due to start. We are the only borough with 3 premier clubs which will be terrible for car owners. I also agree that the zoning needs to be redone and bigger more sensible zones introduced. Can''t there be borough wide permit, failing that one for south of the borough and one for the north across the A4?
From Hughes on 08/06/2011 at 10:27
I agree. Will someone please look at the LBHF traffic problems, particularly on FPR coming from Putney. The queues are dreadful and the side roads solid. The zoning is also petty and long overdue for an overhaul. The RBKC is much simpler and the envy of LBHF and annoys me being a resident of LBHF that they lord it over residents in LBHF (although rightly so). The RBKC is very generous but there must be a half way measure so as not to be the poor relation (again). I believe the zones also stop me shopping locally as if I get in the car and can''t park I might as well go ouot of town or further afield for cheaper and/or accessible parking (which is not the case in Fulham).
From Jack on 07/06/2011 at 18:02
The trouble is the parking zones in LBHF are so ridiculously small. You see people parking and/or waiting in silly places just to be within their zones. I likve in zone W and am not able to park at my local doctor as it is in zone Q. How stupid is that. Walking is not always an option. Can they not merge some of the zones to relieve the pressure. I have been stuck on FPR and Munster Road, which often are gridlocked. Noone including the buses are able to move. Someone sensible needs to look at the traffic problem, which has been neglected for far too long - it simply does not work and any resident will tell you that.

As many people have noted, Fulham Palace Road and Shepherd's Bush are particular bottlenecks. I have the advantage of riding a moped and often see that the congestion on these roads is caused by nothing more than poorly timed traffic lights, or inconsiderate drivers blocking exits.
With the number of traffic and CCTV cameras in the borough, would it not be possible to for someone to have a real-time overview, watching the traffic flow across the borough. They could see where the cause lies and and alter signal timings where necessary? Or if remotely altering signals is not possible, then send a Community Support Officer to the right spot and radio them real-time advice on how to clear the backlog.

The signal timing at Lillie Road/Fulham Palace Road also seems to favour those heading North off Lillie Road onto FPR - they tend to push in, leaving those coming up FPR nowhere to go when the lights change. Then the lights change back to red again before space is created by the lights further up.

Sorry, Councillor Botterill, but you are wrong: the only means of getting quickly, easily and comfortably on public transport from Olympia to Earls Court is via the district line service - which these proposals will cut. The Olympia district line service is vital for people who live in this area (and is especially valued by people with disabilities, and parents with buggies, because of the easy access at Olympia station)- but it's also essential for the thousands of people who work around Olympia and who visit events at the Olympia exhibition centre during the week. TfL have presented this as an either/or issue: but why cant we have BOTH improved service on the Wimbledon branch AND a weekday service to Olympia? If the real problem is inadequate signalling at Earls Court, why not find the money to improve it? The Council shouldn't be meekly accepting TfL's weak arguments because there'll be a few more trains running to Wimbledon: it should be standing up for ALL its residents - not just those who happen to live near to Wimbledon branch stations. Hammersmith & Fulham Councillors: please help save our service in Olympia!

There are a number of ways we could improve traffic in Hammersmith and Fulham and throughout Central London: Remove all pedestrian controlled crossings and pelican crossings so that traffic and pedestrian flow is improved; Coordination of work by utility companies; Reduction in the amount of unnecessary pavement replacement and widening and reconfiguring traffic islands; No holes to be dug and then left cordoned off for weeks with no work being carried out; No loading or unloading or refuse collections during peak times (this could be done very early in the morning. I use the 14, 414, 430 and 74 bus routes equally and all routes have had ongoing work for more than two years and no route is ever working properly. It would be great if we could improve things before the 2012 Olympics!

I'm delighted to see a Streetcar has appeared on Ravenscourt Road next to the tube station. I've corresponded with Streetcar so have an idea of the discussions that have taken place. I was curious what had changed in the council's stance, but whatever it was, I welcome it. The cars' location seems to me to be an example of integrated transport, allowing the car to be easily used by others with access to the tube and lots of bus tops close by Hurrah!
From Jeff Richards on 10/05/2011 at 17:40
District Line - The line is almost at full capacity in the morning. Between 7.45 and 9 am it is almost impossible to fit into the carrieges. People are on top of eachother. This situation cannot go on like this considering the ever increasing number of buildings that are converted into flats in Parson Green (just think about the new development next to the tube). -Ideas: increase the lenght of the trains to Edgware Road. I still do not understand why these trains are shorter than the trains that go to the City . For the medium term support the Thames project. Good river trasport could be the winning card for London. Bus Lane - The increase in the number of buses along the Fulham Road has made people's lives easier. Is there a way of introducing bus lanes together with reducing traffic lights? Also could we restrict the access hours for heavy vans? This is for example successfully done in Milan. Heavy vans cannot enter the city center between 7.30 and 9 am to allow people to go to school and to work with less traffic and risk (if you are on a bike !)Parking -In Fulham the parking areas are made of vertical lines only.

Please may we change our parking from zoned areas to freedom to park anywhere in Hammersmith & Fulham like Kensington & Chelsea residents do? I live in zone W and my daughter who has a rare disease lives in zone V. When one of us visits the other we have to pay and display at £2.20 per hour. Also - why do the parking machines not credit us with the extra amount we pay when we do not have the exact change? In other boroughs if parking is £2.20 per hour and you put £3.00 in the machine you are credited with 80 pence extra time. Thirdly, please would you let us buy visitors' parking permits so that we could be more hospitable to our relatives and friends. When I lived in Richmond I was able to buy a certain amount of visitors' permits per year - these are issued as daily, 1/2 daily, or hourly permits.
From Bernice Falcon on 04/05/2011 at 12:16
Traffic turning left from the North End Road into the main Talgarth Road has to stop at pedestrian lights on the Talgarth Road. This causes a huge back up of traffic in the mornings as everyone has to wait for the odd left turning vehicle. It's incredibly easy to fix! Simply change the timings on the pedestrian crossing lights. This would ease traffic enormously and help buses.

Nothing has been done about the bus stop at Racton Road despite the works. You wrote in the article of H&F News on Feb 21 2011 that the bus stop would be in use from the end of March. The stall holders have moved from their pitches near the bus stop and it was to increase footfall for the market. What is happening?

There should be an allowance made for visitor parking as when I was visiting my house bound Mother I had to pay the full fee for parking charges. Unsociable behaviour from scooters wheeleing along Wormholt Road from the Peabody Estate is dangerous as I was nearly taken out when I was cycling. It might also be an idea to bring in a right turn on red when no traffic is coming from the other direction.
From diable on 04/04/2011 at 23:07
I drive myself however i agree that there are far too many cars on the road. The problem is that although public transport has improved significantly it still costs too much to tempt people out of their cars. On a Saturday in Shepherds Bush you can have QPR and Westfield traffic as well as normal local traffic all at once. The place is gridlocked. Very few people would put themselves through that misery if there was a cheaper efficient travel alternative
From BRIAN MACNAMARA on 03/04/2011 at 22:08
I am not a borough resident-I just want to comment from a transport planning perspective. If you concentrate solely on increasing capacity (parking, roadspace etc) for cars, you'll just get more cars and more congestion, and danger, and pollution, and noise, and community severance, and ugly down-at-heel town centres, and motorways, and car parks, and blocked streets, and... I could go on! This situation will not benefit car drivers and it will harm their interests (most importantly, given your campaign), and it definitely won't benefit pedestrians, cyclists or public transport users. Lose, lose. Invest instead in spreading demand, focusing on walking and cycling (proper investment, better public realm), keeping bus priority, and you will spread demand across the modes. This will improve journey reliability and result in a better quality of life for residents. Local businesses will thrive, people will be happier and road danger will reduce. This is why Copenhagen is the world's most liveable (and happy) city-exactly because politicians had the courage to turn around and so something different and better than 'business as usual'. Win, win.

We live on Rylston road, many use it as a way through street. There is not enough space for two cars to pass by but many impatient drivers squeeze their way through. As a result it is a complete disaster to park on this street, we had enough of our car being scratched more than five times over last few months. Rylston road is zone W permit, around the corner we have St Thomas's way, not a through street, which is F zone and has more empty space for parking. How can we possibly park there?

The bus did not stop there today and the bus stop sign still has the restrictions only is use after 7pm and sundays. Who checks these things? PLEASE GET IT SORTED AND TELL THE BUS GARAGES FOR THE 391 AND 28 BUSES so we do not have to put up with rude and aggressive drivers who havent been told and wont let us on or off.

Effie Place currently has only 4 council parking spaces. A reconfiguration of the cul-de-sac parking areas to help serve local shops and residents could see the number of spaces increased by 2-4 places. Additionally Effie Rd has parking restrictions that it seems are designed to catch people out unnecessarily. Some spots require a parking ticket from the machine PLUS a visitors permit? Why? Surely one or the other would suffice but not both. Also cars are constantly towed away (having already received a ticket) when a simple ticket would suffice. The traffic wardens cite blocking the entrance road to Access Storage but this seems harsh and needs reviewing.
From simonwj67 on 26/03/2011 at 16:17
Visitors pay extortionate amounts to see us. The increase in parking costs in Wormholt road has gone from 80p per hour to £2.40 in an extremely short period. In other boroughs residents paying for parking have vouchers or scratch cards which enable visitors to park without the imposition of a £20 a day parking tariff. For my non disabled but ancient parents to visit for a week costs £100. Other boroughs have schemes for residents who can purchase extra parking vouchers at a discounted rate. Secondly, other boroughs locally do not 'kraal' the residents parking into very small zones which mean that because we live 'in the sticks' we have no rights at all in the commercial areas. Not many living near Kings St want to park in Wormholt whereas the opposite is not so yet we pay the same residential parking rates whereas they don't have to pay £2.40 an hour to pop down to OUR high street. I suggest: Borough wide parking offered as an optional extra OR Residents with specific area permits get time concessions on other "Resident and Pay & Display" parking areas (pay for half an hour get 2 hours)

When I e-mailed my comments to the consultation this evening (March 24th), I received an auto reply saying the consultation was closed. The letter I received says it closes on March 25th, so those comments should be taken into account. They were to do with the congestion in Fulham Palace Road, the difficulty of getting through the lights at Lillie Road/Fulham Palace Road junction, the expense of parking for local shopping and other business in parts of the borought outside one's own parking zone and the optimistic suggestion that Hammersmith and Fulham might adopt an amended scheme similar to that of Kensington and Chelsea, where residents could park anywhere in the borough, with possible exclusion zones around the underground station

14 and 414 buses much improved in recent years. I use public transport or cycle to work. Reduce/elimate number of speed pads Holmstead Road & surrounding area (major offenders don't take any notice and just causes logjam for everyone else); Speed pads can wear inside of tyres causing blow outs at dual carriageway speeds. Raised roads at junctions e.g. Fulham Road and Parsons Green Lane a nightmare for cyclists (and cars - has cost me a lot in repairs; uses more fuel). Generally sleeping policemen/bumps used too widely in area. Extend Boris bikes to SW6. Better protection of residents' parking on Chelsea match days (BUT I still need family / emergency workmen to be able to park - visitor parking permit scheme?). Change traffic light synchronisation top of Fulham Palace Road onto Hammersmith gyratory vs exit from Hammersmith bus station - presently doesn't work and causes a jam. Charge for skips in road? Must be 3 in my street at the moment. More than 1 week's notice of parking bay suspension - no good if away; Generally council do good job but applaud initiative to make changes.

Consultation letter dated 25th February, received from you. N2 Area.
Frankly I cannot see that it is possible to fix potholes in 24 hours. It would be great to have some speed bumps removed. I am still convinced that there are far too many zones. We are not competitive with other boroughs because to take a car to a different zone to go to the doctor, shop or visit friends we have to pay again at £2.20 per hour, on top of the annual residents' parking fee. It would be far better for us to have less zones, so we do not have to keep paying again and again! Also we receive no residents' priority, so when Chelsea fans park for extended hours in my street (Delaford), I cannot get my car near the house (important now that I am older and have severe knee problems, etc.) Kensington and Chelsea have Residents Only areas. Please could we finally have some of those. There is a primary school in my street, and there could be spaces there for Chelsea fans to park if they must. Please make space for them in the new Capco development when it happens, but try and simplify our system now.

Would you please confirm that as part of the Earl's Court regeneration a further route on to the A4 will be provided to the west of the NER to relieve traffic congestion around Baron's Court. All of the roads around Baron's court are at a standstill morning and evening weekdays, almost all day Friday and when there is football at Chelsea or Fulham.
Alternatively perhaps we could make Baron's Court area no through route like the area to the west of the NER.

I work in Chelsea Harbour and travel from Wandsworth Common every weekday. The traffic light phasing at Townmead Road - Wandsworth Bridge Road junction has been changed recently to the extent there is now serious traffic congestion along the whole of Townmead Road every night during rush hour. What used to be a 5 minute journey to the junction at Wandsworth Bridge Road from Chelsea Harbour now takes about 30 minutes. Please change the phasing back to the way it used to be as the lights change so quickly that they only let 2/3 cars out at a time.
From Caroline France on 24/03/2011 at 09:23
Congestion northbound on North End Road could be eased by changing the timing of the pedestrian crossing across the westbound carrigeway of the A4. If pedestrians were to cross when eastbound A4 traffic is turning right into North End Road it would reduce delays for traffic moving north on North End Road.

The traffic priority system in Old Oak Road W3 towards Western Avenue/Westway needs to be re-assessed.The present system was activated years ago in conjunction with the ambitious underpass project, which involved knocking down the gastly "listed" cottages. Without the underpass, all traffic merging into East Acton Lane gets to a bottleneck in the narrow single lane road, leaving interminable tailbacks in Old Oak Road (north-bound), Old Oak Road one-way southbound, East Acton Lane east-bound and ironically leaving the spacious 4 or more lanes by the traffic lights often free of cars. As a resident of Old Oak Road for the last 25 years, I think this was the worst traffic plan anybody could have devised and implemented. The original round-about gyratory system worked perfectly well. What was wrong with it? Could someone please have a RE-THINK and eliminate noise, pollution and permanent congestion? Buses would benefit enormously! Also, could heavy lorries from the Old Oak Common Lane industrial estate be diverted onto the Westway and not be allowed to use a residential road like Old Oak Road as a shortcut to Hammersmith?

Some of the parking bays in the borough are causing problems for motorists and cyclists two sites that i know from my own experience are the junction of Wormholt road and Uxbridge road where the bays are both sides of the road and so close to the junction that when the 283 bus arrives it cannot get round due to the restricted width with cers trying to exit Wormholt road . Also on a safety aspect I`m surprised there hasn`t been a major accident on Percy Road at the dog leg towards Askew Road where the bays are so close to the corners that they force oncoming vehicles into the other lane.Am I right in saying in the old highway code "don`t park within 25ft of a junction or corner" was the rule? It seems that fill every available space with parking bays is now the norm. I would value your comments. Seperatly why can`t we have some free 1/2 hour bays in shopping streets similer to Ealing so we use local shops(ie Askew road) rather than go to supermarket car parks

Motorists don't stop on pedestrian crossings and it's very dangerous to cross roads in the borough. It would be good if there was some kind of community transport for elderly people because they can't afford to take taxi cabs everywhere. Transport should also be better for children with more direct routes to school, for example going up Hammersmith Grove to Phoenix School.
From Maria Valentim on 21/03/2011 at 13:36
Roadworks are the biggest problem in the borough and it's so frustrating when you drive past them and there's no one even working there! Also, you should enforce car sharing - maybe even if it's one day a week, say on a Friday, which would bring down emissions and get traffic off the road.
From Robert Green and Siobhan Gallagher on 21/03/2011 at 13:32
There is no bus from Shepherds Bush that goes straight to Baker Street or to Edgware Road, so rather than getting off the bus, crossing the road by going across the A40, TfL should create a new route. At the minute it's a long journey - it takes an hour - but it could be so much quicker.

From Laura Roberts on 21/03/2011 at 13:01
For vehicles heading east on Goldhaek Road and wishing to turn right into the north end of Hammersmith Grove, the traffic lights have a right filter arrow. While this is lit it is not safe for pedestrians to cross the end of Hammersmith Grove. However, at the same time, vehicles heading north on Hammersmith Grove and wishing to turn left into Goldhawk Road are held at a red light. A left filter arrow would allow these vehicles to proceed but not inconvenience pedestrians further.

Traffic is a nightmare, especially to get out of Hammersmith and to get into the Broadway. I use public transport but it depends on the day as to what time I’ll travel and I’ll stay away from particular areas at certain times. For example, if I have an appointement at 6pm I will try and move it forward and do it early, say at 4pm so I miss all the people travelling and traffic.
