Grantastic: Andrew Mena, 6, with grandmother Vasa
Grandmas and pas went back to school at Miles Coverdale as young pupils celebrated their extended families.
On December 3, children at the primary school in Coverdale Road, Shepherds Bush, invited their grandparents to join them for classes.
"We've certainly had parents involved in the past, but a lot of our children also come from very strong extended families so we wanted to get some intergenerational involvement," said headteacher Tara Baig.
"The grandparents thoroughly enjoyed it and said they loved being back in school," Tara said. Tara added she was hopeful the inaugural grandparents' day would also benefit pupils in their learning and their family relationships.
"I think the children really felt a sense of pride," she said. "They were able to show their grandparents what they had learnt and I think they also found a sense of pride in showing off their grandparents to the rest of the class."
