Sacred Heart High School celebrated its best GCSE performance ever, with 99 per cent of pupils achieving at least five grades or more at A*-C, and 93 per cent achieving five A*-C including Maths and English.
Head teacher Dr Christine Carpenter said staff and students at the girls’ school, in Hammersmith Road, were delighted with the results. “These are our best results ever and 59 per cent of all our passes are A or A-star,” she said. “It comes down to the hard work of the staff, support from parents, and the attitude and motivation of the pupils.”
Mary Ann Rhiemus, 16, of Shepherds Bush was thrilled to achieve nine A-stars, one A and two As at AS level. “It’s exceeded my expectations and I really didn’t think I would get mostly A-stars,” she said. “I thought I’d messed up my history paper so to still get an A-star in that is a massive surprise.” Mary Ann now plans to embark on four A levels at St Paul’s Girls’ School, Brook Green, and then hopes to study medicine or physics at university.
