GCSE results 2009: Henry Compton
Friday August 28, 2009
At Henry Compton School, the boys were on top of the world as they swapped results stories. Ryan Khaleel, 16, whose ambition is to become an English teacher, was thrilled with his results of four As, four Bs and 2Cs. He said: “I’m over the moon! I did work hard for them and now I’m going to Hammersmith & West London College to study A Levels in psychology, biology, Maths and English.”
The number of students gaining five or more grades A* to C, including English and Maths, jumped from 31 per cent to 35 per cent. Mansour Monaf, 16, got three As, five Bs and one C. He said: “I don’t know what to say about them really – I’m almost speechless! It’s better than I thought I was going to do.” Mansour wants to become an investment banker and will now study psychology, Maths, economics and accountancy at Hammersmith & West London College.
Head teacher, Dinesh Ramjee, said: “We are very pleased with the initial results we have. The boys have done really well and worked hard for it.”
Zeeshan Ahmed, 16, passed all of his GCSEs with flying colours, getting an A in PE, two Bs and six Cs. “I was happy when I saw my A, but at the same time I thought I was going to get another A. But it doesn’t matter because I got a B in that anyway. I don’t think the teachers thought I’d do as well as that, but I did!”
Samy Balal, 16, who got two Bs and nine Cs, owed his success to hard work and encouragement from the teachers. He said: “I just put my head down – my mum told me I wasn’t allowed out all the time and to get on with it, so I did, enjoyed my summer and now it’s all paid off!
“The teachers were brilliant and helped a lot. If it hadn’t been for them I don’t think I would have done anywhere near as well as I did!”
