Free thermometers
Friday June 12, 2009
As part of National Food Safety Week, June 15-21, H&F Council is giving free fridge thermometers out to borough residents.
The focus for this year’s UK wide campaign is the over 60s, particularly as the number of people getting Listeria has doubled since 2001 and 70 per cent of cases are people over 60.
The council is on hand to offer advice on how to properly store and handle food at home and store it at correct temperatures, which can help keep germs at bay.
You can receive your thermometer by calling 020 8753 1081 and asking for the Commercial Services team, sending an email to foodsafetyteam@lbhf.gov.uk or visiting the environment services department on the third floor of Hammersmith Town Hall Extension.
