Events 4 Youth launched
Monday March 15, 2010
An exciting scheme that recruits and trains young people to run their own events has been launched at Hammersmith Town Hall (Wednesday March 3).
Events 4 Youth is the brainchild of the Hammersmith & Fulham Volunteer Centre (HFVC) and aims to assist 16 to 25 year-olds who want to plan and run events for other young people in Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
The scheme is ran by a youth committee who planned and ran the launch event and will promote the project.
Cllr Sarah Gore, cabinet member for children’s services attended the event and said: "I was delighted to be at the launch of Events 4 Youth. They have raised an impressive amount of National Lottery funding. The events planning will not only provide what our young people want and need, but will also provide useful commercial experience. HFVC do important work in the borough and I am sure that plenty of young people will benefit from this scheme.”
Hammersmith and Fulham Volunteer Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that is committed to developing, supporting and promoting volunteering in West London. It also does a lot of work with unemployed people, helping with training, job searching and confidence-building.
