Cycle hire scheme begins

Wednesday July 28, 2010

Pedalling around London is set to become far easier from this Friday as the Mayor of London launches his ambitious new cycle hire scheme.

Registration for the hire service is already open and Londoners who have signed up can begin using the system from July 30.

Members can hire bikes from a network of 400 docking stations across central London.

The nearest ones for H&F residents will be at Olympia railway station, the junction of Kensington High Street and Warwick Road, and several points around Earls Court tube station.

@Ryan:
We very much support the scheme and want to extend it to H&F, but TfL are only implementing the first phase in central London. We will continue to lobby TfL for us to be included in the next phase.

Hi! I live in Parsons Green and was disappointed H&F is not involved in the scheme, yet many of the other close boroughs are. Are there plans to extend the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme to include the council? Thanks!
