Council to shut shisha club
Monday February 22, 2010
Hammersmith & Fulham Council is taking enforcement action against the owners of an illegal shisha café.
The social club on Uxbridge Road has been the subject of complaints from residents, who have been disturbed by noise and antisocial behaviour.
Police and environmental health officers have been called out to the club on various occasions, to deal with noise from large groups of up to 40 people smoking in the garden and talking on the pavement outside on Uxbridge Road. There have also been reports of loud noise from televisions in the building and outside in the yard.
Running out of the ground floor and basement at the Venus Café , the owner does not have the correct planning permission to operate as a social club. Despite repeated warnings, the club has continued to open late into the night.
An enforcement notice will shortly be served on the owner which will enable the council to impose controls on the club to prevent further nuisance to neighbouring residents.
