Christmas tree recycling
Friday December 4, 2009
To help residents recycle their Christmas trees, the council is once again running a free door-to-door tree collection service.
It couldn’t be easier for residents. All you have to do is leave your tree in your front garden or outside your property where it is clearly visible and does not cause an obstruction on the pavement, by midday on your collection day.
Collections will take place from Monday January 4 to Friday January 15.
Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for crime and street scene, said: “Christmas is the perfect time to get into the recycling habit. The council is making it as easy as possible to recycle your tree. All you have to do is leave it outside on the right day. There really are no excuses. Recycling is a duty not a choice so help the council to avoid expensive landfill taxes by recycling your tree this year.”
You can also recycle your Christmas tree at one of the councils collection points. From Monday 28 December to Friday 8 January inclusive residents can drop off your Christmas tree at one of six sites listed below:
1. New Kings Road: On the edge of Eel Brook Common, by the recycling banks, opposite the junction of Perrymead Street, SW6 4SJ
2. Fulham Palace Road Cemetery: Next to the recycling banks, opposite the junction of Queensmill Road, SW6 6HS
3. Normand Park: Lillie Road Entrance, W14 9PB
4. Loris Road Community Gardens: Hammersmith, W6 7QA
5. Ravenscourt Park: By the football pitch, at the bottom of Ravenscourt Park (cul-de-sac), Hammersmith, W6 0TJ
6. Wormwood Scrubs Car Park: The entrance off Scrubs Lane, Shepherds Bush, W12 0HU
All the Christmas trees collected will be sent for composting at a facility in Rainham, Kent.
