Hammersmith & Fulham secondary schools' chess team scooped top prize at the first West London Schools competition.

The team was made up of seven players from Henry Compton School and Burlington Danes Academy and won their way through a series of matches on June 10 to be crowned champions.

The players were Sultan Ghirmay, Giorgi Guledani and Khasbold Ginjbold from Burlington Danes and Ibrahim Nasredinov, Ben Towner, Joshua Hinh and Jack Kelly, who each received a medal, while the two schools will share the shield trophy.
