Accessible kitchen opens in Fulham

Friday March 19, 2010

A brand new accessible kitchen, built specifically for wheelchair users, has been opened in Fulham.

The kitchen, at Hammersmith & Fulham Action Disability’s headquarters, on Greswell Street, Fulham has been built complete with adjustable tables and cupboard shelves that move to make it easier for wheelchair users to use them.

HAFAD is an independent organisation promoting equality for disabled people. It provides high quality services and campaigns to remove artificial barriers in order to develop opportunity, choice, control and independence.

The new kitchen was opened by the Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham, Cllr Alex Karmel. He said: “HAFAD are amongst the borough’s unsung heroes. They do a sterling job ensuring that disabled people have the necessary support to take control of their lives. I am sure that everyone who is lucky enough to use this kitchen will find it most rewarding.”
