89 applications for voluntary funding
Tuesday January 19, 2010
The council has been inundated with applications for its £2.6 million voluntary organisations grant fund.
A total of 89 applications that cover groups associated with infrastructure, children, health and wellbeing and economic wellbeing have applied for the money, which is part of the council’s £4.5 million Third Sector Investment Fund.
And with total value of applications being nearly three times larger than the amount of money available, the council is going to have some tough decisions to make.
Council Leader, Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh, said: “We recognise that there are many voluntary groups who provide wonderful services in Hammersmith & Fulham. Clearly there will be some difficult decisions to be made regarding which organsiations we decide to fund but this will be based on proposals that deliver the best services for our residents, meet our key priorities and deliver value for money.”
A decision of which groups will receive funding will be made in June.
