Computers in libraries
All our libraries provide computers for customer use.
Booking a computer
- Computers may be booked up to one week in advance by visiting the library or by phone. Self-service bookings (via kiosk) may be made for Shepherds Bush Library PCs only.
- If you have booked a computer please turn up on time. Late arrivals may only be able to use the computer for a reduced length of time or may lose their booking altogether.
- If a computer has not been booked in advance it will be made available on a first come, first served basis.
What you can do
- Access the Internet and use the selected Microsoft Office and other applications provided.
- E-mail using webmail facilities such as Hotmail, Googlemail and Yahoo mail. (Staff may be available to assist in setting up webmail accounts).
- Use your own USB memory stick in the computer.
- Download to your own USB memory stick but you should be aware that Internet pages are subject to copyright law.
- Scan documents and pictures to your USB memory stick using our scanners at Askew Road and Fulham libraries.
What you cannot do
- View illegal or offensive materials – if you do this you will be asked to stop by a member of staff.
- Download and save any information to the hard drive – please use a portable storage device such as a USB stick.
Any transaction conducted over the Internet is at the owners own risk. Hammersmith & Fulham Council accepts no responsibilities for such transactions.
We reserve the right to restrict access to users.
Charges
- The first half-hour per day is free for library members. Each subsequent half-hour costs 50p (free for children under 16)
- Non library members pay 50p for each half-hour
- 3 hour block-booking - £2.00
- Charges are also made for printing and for USB memory sticks:
Printing per A4 sheet – 10p for black & white, £1.00 for colour.
USB memory stick - £7.00
