Children's social worker recruitment
The June 2011 Ofsted inspection of Safeguarding and Looked After Children rated Hammersmith and Fulham Council ‘outstanding’ in 11 out of 22 categories.

As a high performing authority, we are looking for confident and committed staff who will help us maintain those standards. In return we offer extensive training, mentoring, monitored supervision and the chance to work in an innovative service.

Our children’s social care teams (pdf) offer a range of support to vulnerable children and young people in the borough. This includes specialist teams such as Disabled Children, Family Support & Child Protection, Looked After Children, Kinship and Youth Offending.

Hammersmith & Fulham is one of the eight boroughs participating in the West London social work project and leads the West London Step-Up to Social Work programme.

How to apply
As they become available, social work posts will be advertised in the current vacancies  section of the jobs page. There you will also find information on how to apply.

You may only apply for the posts advertised and must mention a specific post number in your application. We do not have a rolling recruitment process and will not consider applications that are not related to currently advertised posts. Similarly, we are not able to accept CVs.

The council’s jobs page also provides some helpful information and advice about the application process and how to complete your application. All social worker posts are designated as exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. This means that you must declare any criminal convictions, bind-overs, formal warnings or cautions that you may have had in the relevant section of the employment application form, even if they are considered as spent for other purposes.

For your application to be short-listed and for you to be considered for interview, all sections of the application must be completed fully and accurately and your supporting statement should address all the selection criteria. Information provided in your application will be treated as confidential and only used for the purposes of the recruitment process.
