RE:NEW

Energy saving - keeping homes warm

Funded by the Mayor of London, Hammersmith & Fulham Council is pleased to offer you the chance to benefit from a London wide homes retrofitting scheme called RE:NEW. The council is working with our partner, Climate Energy, to deliver RE:NEW in your area, helping all households to save energy, lower their utility bills and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

RE:NEW is operating in the Shepherds Bush Green Ward. To check if you are eligible for a RE:NEW please visit the GLA Postcode checker (opens in new window)

What does a RE:NEW home visit provide

Home energy assessment - Your home energy advisor will carry out an assessment of your home to find out how it is heated, what insulation and lighting you have and what RE:NEW can do to help you.

Installation of energy saving devices - During the visit your advisor will install, with your permission, a range of energy saving devices appropriate for you and your home. These could be worth up to £100 and may include:

  • Low Energy light bulbs
  • Stand-by switches
  • Energy monitor
  • Draught proofing
  • Reflective radiator panels
  • Hot water tank jacket
  • Water saving shower heads
  • Water saving tap aerators

Tailored energy advice - The advisor will explain how your new devices work and what they will do for you. They will also discuss lots of ways that you could save energy around your home, just by carrying out small changes to how you live. Together with your energy saving devices, these tips could help you save up to £160 a year on your utility bills.

Referral for further help

Loft insulation - The visit will identify whether your home is insulated to the recommended depth of 270mm (10”) or if you could benefit from referral for a grant or discount.

Cavity wall insulation – Your advisor will also check to see if you have cavity walls suitable for insulation and where possible can refer you to a grant or discount scheme.

Homeowners and Private Tenants in receipt of income or disability related benefits or those over 70 may be eligible for free insulation measures, subject to available funding.

Other - Your RE:NEW advisor may be able to refer you for other services such as heating grants, benefit checks or other local schemes.

Energy advisors are on call 8.30am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday but can accommodate evening visits if required. If you would prefer to book an appointment please call:
