Meals on Wheels

The Meals Service operates all year round for housebound Borough residents, that are assessed as meeting the eligibility criteria for services for weekday and/or weekend meals services. Recipients of the service receive a nutritious, two course, hot, lunchtime meal. The service provides a wide range of meals including ethnic and therapeutic dietary meals and all service users are given a pamphlet showing the choices of meals and desserts. 

The service has a twin function in that it meets the recommended daily food allowances for users at lunchtime but also monitors their wellbeing and follows up on no replies to delivery calls and associated service user difficulties. The meals are transported in heated containers on board our fleet of vehicles, the current meal charge to service users is £3.30 per meal and the charge is reviewed annually.
