Clinical and incontinence waste collection

We provide a household collection service for clinical or incontinence waste, subject to a referral from your GP, district nurse or social worker.

Office hours
Mon-Fri 10.30am - 2.00pm (Message taking 8.45am-10.30am and 2.00pm-5.00pm). Telephone 020 8753 3015.

We collect the following types of waste:

Incontinence waste  - incontinence pads     
Service users are supplied with appropriate coloured or marked sacks to store the incontinence waste in readiness for the once weekly collection.    

Clinical (infectious) waste - bandages, dressings  
Service users are supplied with appropriate coloured or marked sacks to store infectious clinical waste in readiness for the once weekly collection.    

Incontinence laundry
Service users are supplied with appropriate coloured or marked sacks to store the incontinence laundry in readiness for the once weekly collection and delivery, currently every Thursday each week. The laundry items are listed with the sacks clearly labelled and the contents are then washed, dried and returned the following week.

Sharps bins
Service users in receipt of this service are required to contact the office 48 hours in advance of the allocated collection day to confirm that they require a collection.

Sanitary waste we do not collect

  • Nappies
  • Hospital waste
  • Hairdresser waste 
  • Private business waste

Collection and disposal of hospital, hairdresser and business waste is the responsibility of the customer via contracts with authorised and legally approved waste disposal contractors.  Please ensure items are securely tied in plastic bags. 

Other waste services

Needles and sharps
On council property: Collection or enquires need to be referred to the estate care takers or area housing office.
On public highway: Collection is the responsibility of the Street Scene Enforcement team.
On private property: We will collect for a charge.

Charges
Charges for the collection of needles and sharps will vary according to location and difficulty of collection i.e. if located amongst other rubbish. Minimum charge is £15.
