The Adults Rights Service provides free:
- Support
- Information
- Advice about Social Services
Support
If you experience any difficulties with an adult social care service, the Adults Rights Officer can:
- make enquiries on your behalf to the manager of the service you receive, raise any concerns you may have about that service
- act as an advocate on your behalf. This includes direct support such as writing letters, making telephone calls and attending meetings to ensure that your views are represented.
- act as a negotiator on your behalf. This means that the Adult Rights Officer will act for you and represent your views and wishes in discussions to work to find a resolution to any difficulties.
- support you in telling social services about any problems you may have experienced with a service.
Information
The Adults Rights Officer can provide information on:
- the services which are available to adults in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
- the current criteria used by Social Services.
- how to apply for a service.
Advice
The Adults Rights Officer will:
- help service users to find out about their rights.
- provide information about services for adults in the borough.
- inform service users about what they can do if they have concerns about any service they receive.
Organisations in the Voluntary Sector
Wherever possible, the Adults Rights Service will provide information to service users and their carers about other agencies and organisations who provide support both locally and nationally.
Long Term Advocacy
Where a service user may have long term Advocacy needs, the Adults Rights Service will provide details of any known:
- Advocacy Schemes - Local Advocacy Schemes and those in the surrounding areas
- Support Organisations - Local and National.
