Sign Language Interpreting Service
The council's sign language facility
This service is provided free of charge for residents of Hammersmith & Fulham who have a hearing loss and need communication support.
What help is available?

We can provide a BSL/SSE interpreter to support you in a number of different situations. We can come with you when you visit:
- council departments such as community services or housing
- your NHS GP or dentist
- NHS opticians
- antenatal classes
- parent/teacher or other important meetings
If you need an interpreter in any other situation, please contact us. We will talk to you about the help you need. If you need support from a lipspeaker or notetaker please contact us and we will try to make arrangements for you.

We will send you a booking form to complete with details of when and where you need us and how we can contact you. If we are coming to a meeting with you we may ask to see copies of important papers in advance to help us prepare.
What happens in an emergency?
If you need an interpreter urgently for an emergency appointment with a doctor, dentist or council department, please contact us. We will help if we can - subject to availability of an interpreter.
