Freedom pass for older people
If you were born on or before 5th April 1950 and your sole or principle home is a London borough, you can apply for an older person's freedom pass.
Applications for this pass are handed into the post office and not us. You will need to supply proof of your name, age and residence within the borough. If you were born on or after 6th April 1950 you need to check when you will become eligible by looking at the information on the website linked below.

What you need to take with you to the post office
- a completed application form available from the post office or you can download a form
- one recent passport sized photograph
- proof of your name, age and address
What you need to bring as proof of your name and age... any one of the following:
- current freedom pass
- letter of pension entitlement
- current passport
- medical card
- birth certificate (unless your name has changed)
- pink driving licence (paper or photo card)
What you need as proof of your address .... any one of the following:
- current council tax bill or letter
- current council / housing association rent book / statement / letter
- current television licence
- any one of the following dated in the last 3 months:
- residential utility bill but not a mobile phone bill
- residential bank /building society statement
- HM Revenues and Customs letter
- Department for Work and Pensions letter
- occupational pension letter
- residential credit card statement
If you do not bring your proof of name, age or address to the post office they will not be able to accept your application form.
Your new freedom pass will be posted to your home address and no longer can be issued immediately from the post office counter. It may take up to 10 working days for you to receive your new pass so do apply in time.
