Garden waste

Garden waste

As a result of a major public consultation with existing and past garden waste service-users, separate garden waste collections have stopped in favour of the much greener solution of home composting.

See Home composting for our latest home compost bin offer.

Options for non-compostable and large amounts of garden waste

Each week up to five bags of garden waste can be placed out in sturdy refuse sacks for collection along with ordinary household refuse. Garden waste must not be placed in the orange smart sacks which are only for recycling.

If you have large items that are too big to recycle (such as tree prunings), or more than five sacks of garden waste, you will need to book a bulky waste collection from the council, for a small charge.  Bulky waste collections can be ordered by phoning the Cleaner, Greener Helpline on 020 8753 1100.

Garden waste recycling facilities at Smugglers Way and Cringle Dock Reuse and Recycling Centres are available, address details of which can be found by visiting the WRWA website at  www.wrwa.gov.uk.
