Real Nappies
Discover the benefits of modern cloth nappies like 1000s already have!
Save money
Until your child is potty trained, if you’re using disposables you will be typically purchasing a whopping 5,000 nappies! If you are using cloth nappies though and only want to do a wash every few days, you will need just 18 to 24 nappies in total. Consequently, as a cloth user you can make huge savings of around £500 for the first child and £700 for subsequent children.
Free Real Nappies Voucher
If you live in Hammersmith and Fulham, you are entitled to a free Real Nappies voucher worth £45 or £50! This can be used to purchase any cloth nappies and related accessories of your choice from the “Washable Nappy Company” who have an extensive range of products. Easy to use
Like disposables they are all-in-one, pre-shaped and fasten easily thanks to velcro. There is no touching or washing of the solids involved at all, because the liner inside the nappy catches them and it is simply flushed down the loo. Used nappies are then just stored in a dry bin till you’re ready to put them in the washing machine at 40-60°C. Once clean, most brands dry very quickly too.
Great for your baby
Using cloth nappies means your baby is sitting in soft, breathable fabrics. Many mums and dads also report less leaks and nappy rash with cloth nappies.
Better for the environment
Approximately 8 million disposable nappies are thrown away each day in the UK! At the landfill sites where 90% of them end up, the solid waste and paper in these nappies combine to make methane, a serious greenhouse gas, which is not good given the current outlook on global warming. Additionally they use up a lot of valuable resources when they are made. For example, it takes 4.5 trees to make the pulp used in the nappies for each child using disposables.
Local parents using real nappies think they are great
“I have had far fewer leaks and less smell than with disposables! They are easy to wash and dry very quickly” Alice S
“My baby loves them and her father does too! It's been much less of a burden than I thought. Believe it or not, I wash most nappies with other clothes on a 30 degree wash! Best of all my baby has had no nappy rash and she has quite sensitive skin. I love that they’re not full of chemicals. We have several colours to match her various outfits. They have saved us loads of money too, now she is 8 months they have pretty much paid for themselves already” Rachel M
“I love using real nappies. They last very well, the ones I bought a year ago show no signs of coming to the end of their life. They seem to be really soft and comfortable for my son. He is at nursery now and the carers there have also commented on how very impressed they are with his nappies as they are so simple to use” Melanie T
