Regeneration projects

Environmental regeneration is one of Hammersmith & Fulham’s highest priorities, as reflected in the council's 'cleaner greener' campaign.

As well as spearheading major redevelopment work on Shepherds Bush Green, Edward Woods estate and Hammersmith’s King Street and Lyric Square, the council is committed to working with developers, contractors and local partners to ensure that the local environment is safeguarded and improved.

The major new Westfield London retail centre in White City is an example of the council’s collaborative approach. Westfield and contractors Mulitplex have built a 130,000 square metre shopping centre, plus Tube station, which has created thousands of jobs and transformed White City into an area of opportunity for local people.

The council has not only secured a Section 106 agreement to ensure local residents are employed on the site, but has established a White City Employment Group to work with Westfield and the various sub-contractors.
