The story so far

We first started talking to you about possible changes to the estate and the area in December 2008.

That was after Capital & Counties, the operator of Earls Court, approached H&F Council to tell us that they would like to redevelop the exhibition centres after 2012.

In all likelihood any potential development would include the Lillie Road transport depot which is owned by Transport for London.

The council and H&F Homes have a choice: do we let this redevelopment happen around you or do we look to see whether there are ways local people can potentially benefit? Could this be an opportunity to build new housing and community facilities, while improving transport links? Could local people benefit from the job opportunities that may be created?

These are all questions we have started to consider with your help.

In June this year H&F Council published a document which looked at ways the borough as a whole could develop in the next 20 years. In that document we said that we would potentially like to bring substantial improvements to this area - if the right opportunity arises. H&F Council has yet to decide whether the redevelopment of Earls Court is the right opportunity - but what we do want to do is explore this much more closely with local people.

In September we signed an agreement with the other landowners (Capital & Counties and Transport for London) which will enable us to swap ideas and information. However, no plan or proposal for this area has been agreed.

We are now asking local people what you want and what is important to you. This will help make up the council's and H&F Homes's mind about what should happen in the area.
