What you may have heard

While there are no plans or proposal for people to look at right now, the landowners within the area have started to express certain ideas.

Capital & Counties has stated that it would like 10,000 homes built within the entire regeneration area.

That includes replacing the existing homes that we have.

H&F Council thinks that this would be too much development.

We will only support any future plan if we believe it is right for local people and right for the area. Before taking any decisions about future plans or proposals we need your ideas and views.

Can we make what we've already got even better?

People living in West Kensington and north Fulham feel tremendous pride in the area - and rightly so.

There is a good community feel to the area and people get on with their neighbours.

In considering any future changes H&F Council and H&F Homes do not want to lose that sense of community. We know how important it is. All we want to consider is whether we can make what we have already got even better?

The council needs to keep one eye on the future because we are worried that the standard of housing, particularly on West Kensington estate, may not be up to the standard that local people should expect and want in years to come.

We already know that there are some problems. Around one in ten households are overcrowded because there is a shortage of family-sized housing. And homes are not energy efficient which is becoming ever more important and something we have to consider. We also know that open spaces are not as good as they should be.

Elsewhere in London many local authorities are replacing housing estates built 50 years ago with new, better and more modern homes. We are wondering whether the redevelopment of Earls Court could give us the opportunity to do that while ensuring we retain what is already good about living in the area.

That would mean ensuring that nobody has to move away and that any new homes are built before old homes are demolished.

There are no actual plans or proposals on the table at the moment. We think it is important to find out more about what you think and what you want before any future plans or proposals are considered.

The council and H&F Homes will not accept overdevelopment. We will not accept anything that we think is wrong for the area and wrong for you. But we need you to tell us what you think to help inform any future decisions.
