Impact of Air Quality on your health
Information and advice
Healthy people will not normally notice any effects from air pollution, except occasionally if the pollution is very high, when some people may feel eye irritation, start coughing and feel discomfort if breathing deeply.
For sensitive individuals, most air pollutants irritate the lungs and cause inflammation at high levels. Those people who suffer from lung disease may feel less well than usual, with the sick and elderly being at greater risk if they already have a respiratory disease.
Health Advice.
If you have a respiratory disease such as asthma, your symptoms are likely to remain unchanged when air pollution is at low or moderate levels. However, symptoms may increase if air pollution is high or very high and you may need to consult your doctor and change your treatment accordingly.
