Design guidelines for lightwells
Design guidelines have also been produced for use across the Borough in relation to lightwells and these form Supplementary Planning Guidance. Please be aware that on the Peterborough Estate in the Studdridge Street Conservation Area there is a model design for lightwells which pre-dates the adoption of the SPG, details of which are available from the Duty Planning Officer on 020 8753 3440. Design guidelines for Nos. 54 to 108 (even) Uxbridge Road
Illustrated design guidelines for the properties on this stretch of Uxbridge Road have been adopted by the Council. The aim of these guidelines is to help property owners and occupiers in improving their premises and to raise the quality of the street frontage through better design.

Design guidelines have been adopted by the Council for use in the Old Oak and Wormholt conservation area.

Please be aware that these were produced prior to the Shimizu court judgement in 1997 and that Conservation Area Consent is now only required for total or significant demolition of a building, structure, wall or other means of enclosure. Planning permission may still be required for more minor demolition works especially where an Article 4 Direction restricting permitted development rights is in place.
