The council’s Urban Design and Conservation Team:
- provides advice on the design of new development and on the conservation of historic buildings and areas
- designates Conservation Areas
- produces Conservation Area Character Profiles
- assists in the production of the Local Development Framework in relation to historic environment and urban design issues
- produces design guidelines on specific issues such as lightwells and shopfronts
- inputs into the design of public space and streetscene improvement schemes
- issues Tree Preservation Orders
- makes Article 4 Directions to restrict permitted development.
