Bishops Park Proposed Plans
Exciting proposed improvements in Bishops Park and Fulham Palace Grounds
In March 2010 the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) awarded the Council £3.65m towards the exciting £7m Bishops Park and Fulham Palace grounds restoration project and works are expected to begin in October/November 2010.
As well as the restoration of the historic urban beach in the Park, the Council plans to restore the ornamental lake and picturesque bridge that leads to the original picnic area overlooking the lake. Three major play areas will also be created and the historic cafe building will be restored. The project also plans to restore the famous Fulham Palace grounds, including the walled garden, the historic vinery and bothy and the old stables will be converted into an education centre. The Fulham Palace moat, thought to be the longest medieval moat in England, will be partially excavated at the Gothic Lodge - which will also be repaired.
