Local Land Charges searches and enquiries
These are normally submitted to the Council by solicitors on behalf of persons wishing to purchase property located within the Borough. The search and enquiries give information on prohibitions and restrictions originating from the Council and the Council's future proposals which affect the property. The Environment Services Department holds the Local Land Charges Register, the Register of Enforcement and Stop Notices and the Register of Common Land.
Cancellations
A Land Charges search may be suspended at any stage. This may be done via telephone (see below for numbers). All work on the search will be suspended. An official request in writing (by letter, fax or email) is required to cancel the search. The search may be cancelled without penalty at any time up until Land Charges staff process the payment. Cheques will usually be lodged on either the day the search is received or the following day. Once a payment has been processed a cancellation will refund only 50% of the payment. This is intended to cover the administration costs associated with processing both the search and the payment and refund.
Personal searches
Hammersmith and Fulham’s Local Land Charges Department accepts requests via telephone, post, fax or email. If we receive a request before 3pm, we will have it available for pick-up at our environment services reception after 8.45am on the following working day. Our fee is now £11 per land parcel. Payment is on collection, and we accept cash and cheques only. Collection Hours: 8.45 – 5.00pm, pick-up from Hammersmith Town Hall extension, see address at bottom of this page.
Drainage Enquiries
Since 1st April 1997 this Council has no longer acted as an agent for Thames Water Utilities. It is therefore necessary to refer enquiry 3.3 of Form CON29 directly to Thames Water Utilities for reply.
