Some pests, such as rats, mice, bedbugs and cockroaches pose a risk to health when they infest occupied premises. The risk to health is less significant where these pests are found outside and people are less likely to come into contact with them. Other pests, for example, wasps, book lice and ants are generally a nuisance rather than health risks.
- We provide advice and information to businesses and members of the public on pest control.
- We provide a pest identification service.

Foxes: Fox control is not a pest control service that that the Council provides. For further information about foxes please see Advice on foxes
The Fox Project has been assisting local authorities with humane, non-leathal solutions to fox nuisance and is willing to talk to local residents about fox deterrence and about simple steps that can be taken to resolve specific issues. You can contact the FOX DETERRENCE HELPLINE on 01892 826222
The council recognises that foxes can be a real nuisance in the area and we are recording details of fox sightings. If you know of any fox dens on council land please let us know by using the contact details at the top of this page.
The council has no objections if residents want to independently arrange for a private contractor such as Bruce Lindsay-Smith to carry out treatment on their own properties, if it has been deemed suitable.
Have you got a problem with foxes? County Pest Control is a well established business that has been humanely controlling fox populations in and around the London area for 33 years. Foxes can be legally controlled by either cage trapping and then humanely dispatching them or by carrying out a night time culling program carried out by their licensed wildlife team to comply with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. County Pest Control is a licensed professional company and is fully insured.
If you would like further details about charges and appointment availability, please contact: Bruce Lindsay-Smith on 01293 825702 or 07930 417737. Web site: www.countypestcontrol.uk.com. Email: countypestcontrol@live.co.uk
