Food safety nutrition

It is extremely important to have a healthy diet. Most people should be eating:

  • less fat, salt and sugar
  • more fruit and vegetables
  • more starchy foods such as rice, bread, pasta (especially wholegrain varieties) and potatoes
  • some protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs and pulses (such as beans and lentils).

It's also important to eat a variety of foods to make sure we get all the nutrients our bodies need.
