Chef of The Year Competition Final 2007

London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Chef of the Year Competition 2007.

The final of Hammersmith & Fulham's Chef of the Year 2007 competition was held on 6 November at the Hammersmith & West London College's Taste Restaurant. The event was a great success and the judges led by food writer Mitzi Wilson, said that standards had improved since last year.

This year's event was open to canteens and delis as well as restaurants and a winner was chosen from each category. Winners included:

1. Mr Ali Ben Boulaid of The Whole Hog in the deli category.

2. Mr Sompong Sae - Jew of The Blue Elephant in the restaurant category.

3. Mr Keith Shepherd of Chartwells at Latymer Upper School in the canteen category.

Finalists included:

1. Ms Alma Leliute of The Manhattan Cafe

2. Mr Chris Benarab of Azou

3. Mr M A Qureshi of Chula

4. Mr G A Tahir of Rajput 

5. Mr Deepak Dhami of Green Chilli

6. Ms Veronika Lorencova of Larmenier and Sacred Heart Junior School

7. Mr Dilumvuidi Masonga of Imperial Wharf Site Canteen.

Next year the Food Safety Team are proposing to include healthy eating initiatives for young adults and older children.
