What will happen if my premises and services do not comply with Part 3 of the Disability Discrimination Act ?
Department: Environment Services
Division: Environment Services/Building Control
If a disabled person feels that they are being discriminated against by not receiving a service or access to building by reason of their disability, they may take action through the Industrial Tribunal System for financial retribution for their grievance.
There is no case-law at present on this aspect of the Disability Discrimination Act but, there are many successful cases under the employment and lack of service provision of the act so there is no reason to suppose that litigation will not arise.
