Specialist Dyslexia Literacy and Numeracy Service
SDLNS is a team of experienced classroom teachers and managers who specialise in dyslexia, literacy and numeracy.
All team members have been trained in Reading Recovery and hold higher additional qualifications in SpLD. Team members have expertise in Phono –Graphixs and teaching strategies for dyscalculia.
We aim to be leaders in excellence and expertise using our specialist literacy and mathematic skills and qualifications to provide high quality advice and teaching to raise the literacy and maths standards in Hammersmith and Fulham schools. Our aim is to promote progress and achievement through targeted and evidence based practice raising the achievement of all groups of learners.
Services provided include:
- Diagnostic assessment
- Advice on planning individual education programmes
- Advice on curricular planning and organisation
- Direct teaching with individual pupils and small groups
- Work with parents
- Training for teachers and classroom assistants
- Support to schools in developing wider literacy and numeracy initiatives to raise achievement
- Support for pupils at the Action Plus stage of the Code of Practice
- Assessing and teaching children with specific learning difficulties (dyslexia)
- Special access arrangements for examinations
- Development of Dyslexia friendly classrooms
- Cross phase transition support
