Mentoring Projects

STUDENT TARGET GROUP 
Key Stages 2- 5, Years 6-13 (aged 10-19). 

ACTIVITIES, BUSINESS PARTNERS and SCHOOLS & COLLEGES INVOLVED

Coca-Cola Valued Youth 
A peer-tutoring scheme managed nationally by Youth Esteem supported by Coca Cola. Business mentors link with secondary pupils of years 8-10 in Henry Compton, Sacred Heart High and Hurlingham & Chelsea schools, who in turn, tutor primary school pupils.

The Aselu Mentoring Programme 
Initially targeting black pupils and volunteer mentors, Aselu has been expanded to include other ethnic backgrounds. Post-16 students of Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College mentor year 7 pupils of Phoenix High School and year 6 pupils of Canberra, Normand Croft and Fulham primary schools. 

BBC Post 16 Mentoring including e-mentoring 
BBC Technology mentors link with post-16 students on vocational courses at the William Morris Academy and Ealing Hammersmith & West London College, particularly IT and Business Studies, but also some on Media Studies, using e-mail communication. 

BBC Take Two Mentoring Programme 
A pilot project in which BBC mentors support post-16 students from the William Morris Academy and Ealing Hammersmith and West London College in their role as peer tutors. 

BBC Pre-16 Mentoring Programme 
A pilot project linking BBC mentors with young people from the Bridge Academy, the Pupil Referral Unit, who may in turn mentor, and support the literacy of, year 7 pupils.
