School term and holiday dates

The term and holiday dates shown below are guide dates only. Schools usually follow the pattern of dates set by the council, but voluntary aided (church) schools can, in law, set their own dates. As dates vary from school to school, it is wise to check details with individual schools.  

Four days per year are available for professional training closures during term time.   These are set by the headteacher and governors of each school.   Please be sure to check holiday and non-pupil professional training dates with your own school.

*Due to the fact that Easter falls very early in 2008 and terms need to be split reasonably evenly, the agreed school holiday dates do not include the Easter weekend.   This is not an error with the spring/summer 2008 dates, which have been set in line with national advice from the Local Government Association and in consultation with our schools and neighbouring boroughs. In addition to the Easter holiday, schools will be closed on Good Friday (21st March 2008) and Easter Monday (24 March 2008).
