Individual progress section (special educational needs)
The Individual Progress Section works closely with schools and parents to provide support and advice on children with special educational needs.
This includes the co-ordination of all aspects of the statutory assessment process. This is a formal process which involves gathering detailed information on individual pupils in order to identify their special educational needs. This information is then used to see how best to meet their needs.
Parents are allocated an individual caseworker who will co-ordinate the assessment process and be available to provide support and advice. In addition, we have produced a series of parent guides which give detailed information on the statutory assessment process for children with special educational needs.
