14 to 19 education and skills

A lot is changing in 14-19 education and it is vital that you know what the changes are and how you can get information, advice and guidance.  Here we have tried to outline how we are putting in place the changes, some of the new qualifications and where you can get more detailed information, advice and guidance..

The 14-19 Partnership
Hammersmith & Fulham LA is working with various partners to ensure that we plan and provide high quality inclusive learning provision that meets local and national government requirements. The partnership includes schools, college, work-based learning providers, Connexions, the Education Business Partnership, employers and representatives from our neighbouring boroughs. It undertakes to work to provide you with the routes that will allow you to contribute successfully to the economy and society.

The 14-19 Partnership is committed to offering you a programme that fits your needs:

  • A wide choice of learning options that link into your personal interest and aspirations
  • Access to all the diploma lines of learning by 2013
  • Options that allows you to learn at different levels so that you can maximise your progress
  • Impartial information, advice and guidance about all the options that will help you make the right choice and plan for your next steps.

The Hammersmith and Fulham Consortium
The H&F consortium is a partnership of the LA, local schools, Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College, the Kingwood City Learning Centre; work-based learning providers; employers; universities and other near-by London boroughs.  Through joint planning and delivery the Consortium delivers the following diploma lines of learning:

An excellent working partnership with the London Borough of Ealing has meant that H&F students are also able to access the Ealing-led diploma lines in the following areas:

  • Construction and the Built Environment
  • Hospitality
  • Creative and Media (from 2010)
  • Sport and Active Leisure (from 2010)
  • Travel and Tourism (from 2011)

Information, advice and guidance

Connexions
In Hammersmith and Fulham we want you to have access to high quality impartial information, advice and guidance which allows you to make informed decisions about your future.  We work in partnership with Connexions to offer free impartial information, advice and guidance to you on matters relating to courses to choose, careers or personal issues.  There is a drop-in centre – the One Stop Shop - in 181 King Street, Hammersmith, W6 9JT where you can access information or you can talk to the Connexions personal adviser at your school or college. Click here to find out more.

The London e-Prospectus
The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham want to ensure that you know what courses are on offer and to help you to have as much knowledge and information about your course options and career choices as possible.  We therefore contribute to the pan-London e-prospectus that holds details on all courses on offer within London as well as our own institutions. The site also allows you to create your own individual learning plan and find out what qualifications and skills you need to have to reach your career goals. Click here to find out more.
