Family Friends

Family Friends is a charity which provides long-term practical and emotional support for families-in-need through befriending and mentoring services.

Through a network of trained volunteers we support families with a child under the age of 5 years, living in Hammersmith & Fulham.  Each volunteer is matched to one family and visits them for two hours a week in the family’s home for a period of one year.  Family Friends’ mission is to ‘help families to help themselves’. The befriending role includes taking time to listen, identifying and reinforcing family strengths, building confidence and giving encouragement.  

The project will work towards: 

• building the confidence of adults within the family in their role as parents.  
• diminishing the gap in attainment of vulnerable children
• engaging families more with supportive services, reducing social isolation
• to break the cycle of deprivation.
