Borough Youth Forum
We were set up in January 2005 as a result of the UK Youth Parliament Elections. We are a diverse group of young people aged 14 – 18, with an interest in our community and the desire to make a difference.
Our aim as the Borough Youth Forum is to give young people (11 – 18yr olds) in the borough a “voice” that is listened to and to provide you with opportunities to:
- Be involved in discussions about the issues that are important to young people
- Put forward your views and opinions to decision makers in the borough
Involvement in the Forum will give you the opportunity to:
- Be involved in a variety of projects you have helped design to engage other young people and seek their views. This could include things like designing and carrying out surveys, developing a website and organising events.
- Develop an understanding of political processes, citizenship and representation.
- Develop your personal skills through the work you undertake and training
- Work towards an accreditation e.g. Youth Achievement Awards
If you attend a school or youth group in the borough and would like to join us as a representative, you would be very welcome. To find out more, please email us. hnf_byf@yahoo.co.uk
On 27 January 2006 Roxanne Hall and Dan Wangi Ikembo were elected MYP and Deputy MYP to represent Hammersmith & Fulham at the UK Youth Parliament. The Borough Youth Forum supports the borough's MYP and Deputy MYP.
If you would like to find out what the UK Youth Parliament is or if you want to tell us about issues affecting young people that you feel strongly about, email us on: hnf_myps@yahoo.co.uk
We are currently in the process of developing a Borough Youth Forum website. We are now looking for young people to help us who have some experience or interest in website building. If this is you, please contact us on: hnf_byf@yahoo.co.uk
Children and Young People's Plan 2006-08In December 2006 the young people's version of the Children and Young People's Plan was launched. This booklet was created by members of the Borough Youth Forum and Children's Fund who worked hard for three days turning this important council document into a booklet aimed specially at young people.
Visit our web page about the Children and Young People's Plan to find out more and to download a copy of the plan or the young people's version of the plan.
