Part 6 Members Allowances Scheme
Details of the scheme for paying allowances to elected members
Members receive a financial allowance to reflect their roles and responsibilities in fulfilling their role as a Councillor.
Local authorities are required to adopt a Members’ Allowances Scheme on an annual basis, with effect from 1 April each year. When amending its Members’ Allowances Scheme, a Council must pay regard to the recommendations of its Independent Remuneration Panel.
The main allowances paid are basic, special responsibility, dependent carer and travel and subsistence. Please click here for further information on the allowances:
