Details of the Scrutiny function at Hammersmith and Fulham

What is Scrutiny about?

Scrutiny Committees have statutory powers to scrutinise the decisions and activities of the Council's Executive and officers. Scrutiny Committees submit reports to the Executive and the full Council on issues they have examined.

The Council's constitution has continued to strengthen the role of Scrutiny, with an emphasis on encouraging public and partner involvement.

The six Scrutiny Committees are:

Cleaner and Greener scrutiny committee

Education and Children's services scrutiny committee

Health and Adult Social care scrutiny committee

Housing scrutiny committee

Local neighbourhoods scrutiny committee

Value for money scrutiny committee

The Committees invite partners to contribute to their work and have an important role in consultation before decisions are taken.

The Health and Social Care Scrutiny Committee has a right to ask health partners to attend the Committee at least twice a year to discuss local health issues.
